I tried to post a response the other day and the page kept refreshing (💩= Disqus) but your comment, “…betraying someone over money is much different then betraying them about freedom” really hit me! I’ve always thought of CO$ as a money-making scheme but it’s so much more insidious because while LRH ended up going nuts and falling into his own trap, though it started over money, DM has taken it to even worse levels by ruining countless families & individuals finances but they didn’t hand over their money because they were dumb, they were investing in their faith and a dream – the freedom you mentioned and in the process, lose even that! Ugh and THIS is why no matter how “small” the CO$ gets, I will never stop fighting it so long as it can ruin a single life!

Oh I’ve definitely made my huge missteps in life and had a bad-boy complex long enough to get married way too young & sacrifice too much life for that BUT I got 2 great sons out of it, learned & grew into a way better person than if I hadn’t become a mom. So, I try to understand where anyone is coming from because as long as I continue to learn & know I never have all the answers then I know I’m actually LIVING life.
And the way you put that, “…betraying someone over money is much different then betraying them about freedom” really hit my heart! I always think of CO$ as a moneymaking scam (from the perspective of DM & LRH, at least until he went fully off the deep-end and started buying his own bull, but that statement puts it in far better perspective for what members & ex-members go and have gone through.

Well it doesn’t bother me when people can’t comprehend how one can be so dumb to get involved ~ maybe they never dealt with being in a similar mental state or can’t get their grips around it perhaps because they have no urge to understand fully. It’s not a lot different then getting into a bad business deal or loaning money that will never be returned but betraying someone over money is much different then betraying them about freedom. It’s good you have your mind open and are figuring it out. More likely you will never end up in such a mess ! and of course you’ll help others skip it too.
