It’s possible for kidney damage to result from septicemia(infection in the blood)especially from staph infections.

If somebody was injecting hard drugs, or using them enough to weaken the immune system, that could result in septicemia as well. Not to be uncharitable, but the possibility of her kidney problem being unrelated to her past drug use is pretty small, IMHO. The vegan diet would be a rational approach to kidney problems, as low protein diets are used to ease the strain on the kidney in many cases, and a vegan diet would fill the bill.
