giggle… i suddenly feel so powerful…

I’ve read that email before. After 9-11, many churches and other organizations opened their doors to anyone who wanted to talk. There was one such place near Ground Zero, where a friend of mine (chosen because she was an auditor) and two other scientologists went with the mission of taking over the place. I think you can imagine how that went. They were coldly welcomed to start. The place was not exactly hoppin’. There were some licensed counselors and clergy, but only one or two people there for help, so most were idle. The scientologists targeted the psychs, making a nuisance of themselves, and after about half an hour, the priest in charge walked over and said: “Why don’t you just get out of here.” <> I am about 99.9% sure that that is the “brilliant maneuvering” referred to in the email. As the email says, they could use another 100 people on that mission – maybe they would have been successful if they had that many? Meanwhile, people all over the massive city of New York took no notice. And again, before during and after this craziness, there were at least 50 well-intentioned scientologists working bucket lines, cooking food, getting supplies to people, and doing other genuinely helpful things.

I am ave no doubt most were well meaning, but scientologist fail at that spectacularly.

I can tell you for sure that very few scientologists were involved in anything like that. Most who arrived at ground zero looked for a way to be helpful and did their best. Maybe they were providing cover for this dark operation, but when you think about the mechanics of stopping the evil psychs, I think you’ll realize that this was all fantasy.

Sorry that my comment came off as a quip. I was trying to soften an earnest query– do you consider the people in question “intellectuals,” or were you using the term ironically. I am sometimes rushed and can come off mean spirited. In most cases that is not my intention.

Of course he never knew, to forget, the old Franklinism about trading liberty for security.
Haven’t seen anyone use it yet in the current to-do.

Agree. I also think he was shocked he won, did not expect to win, and now he and his minions are scrambling to create the details for policies any normal presidential candidate would have had developed long before Election Day. From my standpoint, it’s a organizational train wreck.

🙂 I quite understand Maxi. I have an overload of RL stress already, so I probably would have trump tourettes as well. Also I sometimes vocalize when I’m having frustrating thought without realizing it!
