I need to check it out. I got little annoyed with the Theroux interview he did for new Scientology flick. Constantly interrupting him and getting off topic on some weak ass philosophical nonsense.

I love the British parliamentary tradition of requiring their leaders to stand before their government and speak extemporaneously in support or opposition to policies and actions that are in the process of being decided on.

Having to stand and directly weigh in on important decisions, rather than communicate through a press secretary or only during controlled press conference briefings, seems like it should be a required presidential duty to me!

There are benefits to skiing. People enjoy it, and nothing is without risk. I’m not suggesting banning that – in fact, I never suggested banning anything – you raised that idea.

I’m suggesting that when someone delays consulting a real doctor because their hopes have been raised by someone like Braco, whose claims are as nonsensical and unsupported as the claims made by Hubbard for dianetics, they are morally responsible for the harm done.

Marijuana is a drug whose sites of action have been scientifically studied fora very long time. It’s legalisation for medical use was delayed for so long because of legal and social considerations. It never was ‘alternative medicine’.

When I say ‘alternative medicine’ I mean nonsense like homoeopathy, chiropractic, healing hands – none of which stand scientific examination (which is, after all, only a series of fair tests and procedures designed to insure we are not misled by our hopes and misconceptions).

You are perfectly free to choose quack remedies over real, validated treatments – I hope you don’t, if there is anything wrong with you, but you are free do so and I never suggested you should not be.

Unfortunately, the evidence suggest that you are more likely to suffer or die if you treat yourself with ‘alternative’ medicine, which has no more evidence to support it than dianetics.

There isn’t ‘alternative’ and mainstream medicine. There is medicine that works, and medicine that doesn’t . We know that it works by subjecting it to a fair test. Examination of the examples of ‘alternative’ practices that I have given above just don’t support their claims, and I find it astonishing that people are prepared to trust their lives to a ‘healer’ on far less evidence that they would demand if they buying a cheap used car.
