Your argument makes perfect sense PM. I wonder if there was any thought put into that little slice of life at all. Perhaps hubbard felt the alien inside had no gender assignment. Only the body it happened into was important to the role it should play. On the other hand, he had no such problem when having hard labor assigned to both males and females. That was traditionally a male's role, but if you can squeeze a little more ship-shaping by using females to scrape the paint or clean the engine why not?

Actually a "season" of as few as 8 shows is not that unusual on cable.

But I noticed on my Dish channel guide that the episodes were not consecutively numbered 1-8. It went more like 1, 2, 8, 4 10, 3, 6, and the As Me Anything episode had no number at all.

I was thinking about a related topic, and something occurred to me that I'm not sure has been noted here.

One consideration that now seems obviously missing in Scientology, is any accommodation for the impacts of physical differences between individuals, including brain structure and chemistry, and what effect they might have on life and life experiences. And yet here, you have Hubbard writing as if there is something fundamentally different between men and woman that rises to the level of treating them completely different. You would think that he would have prescribed different procedures (like auditing questions), and mandated different roles for them in his organizations.

Particularly with modern advances in the sciences relating to the brain and behavior, the impacts of physiology are increasingly obvious. Even if from humanistic and philosophical perspectives it may be considered ideal to focus on rising above physical differences and physiology as much as possible, we increasingly recognize that they have to be taken into account and that one-size-fits-all approaches fall short.

Also, Scientology's organizations and particularly the Sea Org obviously began to treat men and women as largely interchangeable, or "on an equal footing" as Hubbard put it when he wanted to deride anything but old-fashioned roles. That's probably due mostly to their overriding impetus to get work done at any cost.

I suspect that Hubbard's view on women evolved over time, at least to something less blatantly patronizing, but he wasn't much of one to go back and revise earlier pronouncements, much less admit mistakes.

It's also interesting to note how he seems to be trying to position himself here as sort of the fireside philosopher speaking to the values of the 1950s.
