It doesn’t get more real than this. Mary Kahn comes across as the epitome of faithful dedication – the devoted mother, wife and church member who gave $300,000, decades of devotion and work, and her son Sammy to a church who thought so little of her that their initial reaction to her doubt was to attack.
This episode made it CLEAR – this is the faith of monstrous evil that must be destroyed.

Her tenacity, vivaciousness, and spunk drew me right in. You can see it in her smile and use of random cuss words. Haha! I love her. She seems so very strong. I hope her son comes to his senses soon. As a new-ish mother (I have an 18 month old son) I felt her pain. I had a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. When her and Mike broke down I could barely handle it. When she talked about raising her kids being the happiest years of her life, that right there, that killed me. 🙁

OMG you look so HAPPY.. I remember when I graduated.. Started in 1965 and didn’t finish until 1981 ! And walking down the aisle I was crying..

Just all the hard word and going to night school ..I know how you feel.. Seriously all the coursework and TESTS..and MORE FREAKIN TESTS.

Marking them off one at a time until the day came.. And all the papera you had to write.. I am so proud of you honey ( P) I could just cry.

First the bridge which was briefly adressed. Then Mary Kahn’s story which brought Mike Rinder to break down for the first time in public. I almost watched everything that Mike had to say for the last few years but this hit home really hard. Big big respect for Mike and Leah and I hope it will bring DM to justice.

and i am in no way criticizing the victims with that statement… that cult is and always has been devious and like any abuser, looks all shiny and bright and good at first, and sucks people in with lies… then the mask falls off.
due to isolation and sleep deprivation and all sorts of other brainwashing techniques, people are unable to make good decisions for themselves. they are spoon fed us vs them partial truths and threatened with the loss of their families, friends, ability to earn a living, and their way of life should they have an inkling of a notion to leave.
