Do you like TX? We’ve talked about leaving Cali eventually because it’s so expensive here vs places like TX & UT. We’re headed to Kalispell, MT for Christmas and I can’t wait – love the snow & being out in the middle of nowhere for a bit. Just a slower pace that (in my old-ass age of 42) I suddenly appreciate. My Uncle B is head football coach at Chapman Univ in Orange and I love holidays w/them because it’s all his mom’s old southern recipes that taste amazing and no one would ever want to see nutritional info on! 😋 Will you get some time off for the holidays to visit friends/fam? We should definitely get together before we head to MT! And if you have ever tried & like (or haven’t tried, cuz then you need to… lol) Huckleberry jam, syrup or any other number of products… I’ll bring some back. I got SO teased the 1st time I went out because I truly thought Huckleberries were just something on Yogi Bear! 😂 Well, that & the 1st bar I ever went to some guy w/2 teeth (in total!!!) came up to me and said “Whooo-EEE girl, you ain’t from here, you look like Exotic Barbie from some far off place!” (Clearly he was quite drunk… I’m 5’4.5″ and nothing Barbie about me…!!!) But it was funny as hell and gave the (then) future in-laws a big laugh!

I was visiting my extended family in Texas for a few days. I actually flew out there on the 18th and flew back to LA on the 26th. I had a great time seeing them. I try to visit at least twice a year.

Hi Dodo, this is a very off topic and personal reply, so I just posted it under one of your old ones. I’m a punk guy (although far too old for it) and I like a lot of the harder stuff, but I don’t usually love metal. Well, a while ago you posted that video of Rammstein’s “Mein Land” and I just want you to know you gave me a terrible ear worm! It was so infectious that I ended up watching the “making of” video and then 3 of their concerts from 2016. I’d seen them once in Germany a long long time (20 years?) ago. They’ve become a lot tighter since then. I really loved “Engel” but I’m guessing everyone does since it’s their show closer. A lot of the stuff they do is very over the top macho and I’m cool with that, but I was actually touched when at the end they all dropped on one knee and did that Teutonic bow to their audience. That was amazing. I really respect that they still sing in German and they’ve obviously been successful because they have a very loyal fan base so it was great to see them honor that in such a poignant way, even though they’ve been famous so long. There was another vid where the guitar player talked about how they took the money from their earlier gigs and put it into making their big pyro shows. I thought that was very cool. So basically, whenever I’m working late at night, like tonight, I end up singing Rammstein songs in my head now. And it’s all your fault. 🙂
