I am in shock about Alice Cooper being “saved”. Can we talk? Can you email with me? If you can’t for whatever reason and I DON’T need to know the reason, but if you can’t for whatever reason, I totally completely absolutely understand. I promise! You didn’t know? Yes, it’s been some years since he did. We didn’t talk about it, but it’s probably a part of staying sober. He hasn’t denounced the character, Alice Cooper, but he is “saved.”

We briefly talked about symbolism, and he said that there are younger performers who don’t realize the power of the symbols in their act. Since I’m an atheist, and don’t believe in heaven or hell and I don’t believe that the symbols themselves have any power, but people feel empowered when they use them because it shocks people.

I felt that what Alice was saying was that the symbols do have power. I didn’t contradict him, and let him think that I was a missionary kid that still believed. I didn’t want to get witnessed to if he discovered that I no longer was a Christian, and I was enjoying the conversation.

Wait, what? Alice Cooper says now he has been “born again” as in the Jesus the savior inside of my heart born again?

It’s hard to go through life standing up for yourself and not accidentally hurt someone’s feelings, at least occasionally.

You’re not doing it deliberately and you’re aware when it does happen, and those things are what count, imho.

…although I am not a human interaction expert. Or anything relevant to this.

Alice has gone over to the dark side by being born again. I didn’t talk to him about that, but I did talk to him and his wife about what it was like to be a PK and MK. It’s a fairly exclusive club that you have to be born into.

I’m thinking that when you meet a celebrity, your natural shyness gets magnified. I just try to evaluate the situation, and bother them unless I can make it a pleasant experience for them.

Not too long before she died, I happened to encounter Anne Francis in a parking lot, and all I could say was that I really appreciated her work.

I was at an In ‘N’ Out, and Jay Leno walked in. (The same one that I met Alice Cooper in). Some people were being jerks, making comments to gain attention, and I told them to cool it. I got Jay’s autograph with the famous little cartoon that goes with it. I think he appreciated not being harassed.

I knew one sports legend before she was famous because she married a friend of mine. They divorced after 25 years, but are still friends. It was interesting to sit at a table at a restaurant and see the people who would come up to talk to her or get autographs. Being on the other side of fame, I imagine can be quite a chore. She was always gracious, and still is.
