OK. I think the first thing to understand is about eighteen percent of Americans voted for Trump.

I think all the reasons why is a very, very complex subject with many reasons.

I think some of those people are racists in denial of their racism. Moderate racists usually don’t see themselves as racist. They lash out at efforts for racial equality and don’t even realize that subconsciously they support white supremacy.

A lot of experiments in social psychology and neuroscience support the idea of subconscious or implicit racism.

That’s one big factor.

I think hundreds of factors can be considered. Some of which Trump supporters will know and some they won’t.

I reread what you wrote AGAIN, fifth time, and see it from a new light now. I don’t know what I was thinking. My original response was from the library next to a girl with perfume that was giving me a terrible headache. I cannot think around perfume. Good grief. Totally different view of what you wrote now. Harping “on this thing”…. by “this thing” do you mean the fact that the next president is on record as saying he’s unable to restrain himself from sexually assaulting any woman he finds attractive?

By “the bigger picture” do you mean the fact that Trump’s awfulness isn’t limited to just rank misogyny and history of sexual assault but also extends to racism, threatening to ban an entire religious group from the country and split up families via deportation, threatening to take away women’s reproductive rights and punish them for exercising choice over their own bodies, dishonesty, lack of transparency in his financial dealings, destabilising world safety by threatening to weaken or withdraw from U.S. alliances in Europe and elsewhere while praising an expansionist dictator thereby possibly starting another nuclear proliferation race, vindictive practices like keeping an enemies list and as an example the guy cut off the water supply to a 92 year old woman in Scotland who has to now get her daily water in a wheelbarrow because she wouldn’t sell her land to him.

So yeah, I guess if I was going to characterise Trump, I’d have to think of a multi pronged description… and I see that Amy Schumer is way ahead of me when she called him an “orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster”.
