LOL Same thing happened to me even though I insisted to myself that could not be possible. But Jesus, I’ve lived in the south so long now I refer to myself as an honorary southerner.

I’ve even come to love country music and that was something I never dreamed would happen. It took a long time though and it was gradual but here I am, rockin to the twain and loving it hee hee.

Hey that’s pretty cool. So we’re both Detroit suburbanites. I’m from Romulus (next to the airport) and I had a friend whose parents owned a summer cottage on Duck Lake and I used to go there all the time with them. Sometimes we’d even go in the winter and we’d ice skate on the lake. I live in Atlanta now. I don’t know how long you’ve lived in TN but have you managed to hold onto your northern accent? lol

I’ve been told I’ve not done a good job of that but I’ve lived in Atlanta for 40 years now. Gah! I’m so old. We moved away from Michigan to TN when I was 16.

We were around Waterford (which is near Pontiac), also from the Milford-ish area.

I see Scientology doctrine as window dressing and justification for the demands Hubbard made of his followers.

Dianetics was made up to bring him money and power, and everything after that was invented to keep the ball rolling or to address internal and external challenges to his absolute power.

Trying to make sense of Scientology in its own terms is pointless, because it was designed by shallow and ignorant man who simply didn’t care as long as he continued to rule over an empire that brought him money and power.

The source of this power was (and still is) the isolated social situation that is brought about by following Scientology’s incoherent doctrines and practices. They are just window-dressing for an oppressive apparatus which emerged naturally, once people accepted Hubbard as their guru..
