There is some background history to the name ‘Pacifica Bridge.’
In ’78 or so, when Big Blue was first completed, ‘ol El Ron was annoyed that it was always referred to as ‘The Complex’ or ‘Big Blue’ and sent his cute little Messengers around surveying the staff on a choice of new names. There were maybe five names on the list. The Complex and Big Blue were not included.

Given the choices available, ‘Pacifica Bridge’ was one of the better ones (I don’t recall the others offhand), but it was still so stupid that, we all having a smidgen of ornery and belligerent in us, we still referred to it as ‘The Complex’ or ‘Big Blue,’ much to the irritation of El Ronald and the CMO, who spent years trying to correct us and finally gave up. Here it is, 2016, and ‘The Complex’ and ‘Big Blue’ still sticks. lol!

Maybe it was because most of us didn’t exactly love the place. So many long hours spent renovating it and yet we were given the crappiest berthing in preference to management when management moved in and took over. So calling it ‘The Complex’ or (much worse, as it made fun of Hubbard’s personal paint preferences) ‘Big Blue’ was a small payback. I wonder if ‘The Pacifica Bridge’ will stick as a name for current staff when they try to use it again this time around?

Is there any way I can try one of their burgers without actually, y’know, giving them any money? I can’t say I’d feel too good about handing over so much as a red cent to these grifters, no matter how good the burger might happen to be. On the other hand, when the inevitable “Would you like to know more about Scientology” conversation began, it would be great fun to say, “Do I have “Fkng Idiot” stamped on my forehead?”

Tis a conundrum.

IKR, it’s always the psychiatrists! I laughed when he bragged about the square footage – HA! Hubbard was “arm in arm” with African Americans during the civil rights movement? WTF? Where’s the photos of LRH with the freedom riders or marching with MLK? Never happened, because he was too busy scamming for $$$ and dealing with his space cooties. This clam is smooth and full of BS, thinking that handing out a pamphlet about drugs will save the world world, cause apparently no one has ever been made aware that drugs are a bad thing! SMH
