My former in laws were from Denmark and my ex had a few nice Bing & grothan (?) pieces. I bought him a b&g bunny during the halcyon days of our courtship, and kept it for my kids after the divorce (since the (ahem) shrew he took up with left all his keepsakes when they moved to ND. So I scavenged the house and found the things his stepmother have him from his dad, the aebleskiver pan his mother bought him among other family keepsakes and I’m saving them for my kids. Someday perhaps we’ll make it to Denmark so my kids can see Copenhagen. My former father in law was a truly self made man. Emigrated to Canada with a fifth grade education and worked his way up through the railroad and the oilfield to a drilling engineer. I could talk for hours – stories about old hans Christian redacted. He’d say in his old Danish brogue ‘ders a right vay, there’s a wrong vay and then there’s my vay – and ve goin to do it my vay. I’m not sure of every day, but DM is famous for cracking the whip all night on his poor subjects. Staying up all night to abuse your underlings makes him one tired boy. I do recall complaints that while everyone else pulled all-nighters, DM could sleep in if he stayed up all night. DM is a legendary micro-manager who insists on going over, and screwing up, almost every project. His control fetish has doomed him because one person can’t control and micro-manage an organization the size of the CoS, LRH created and insane and massive bureaucracy to do that, but that didn’t matter to DM. He has wiped out all the top executives and decided he “must” do their work for them. I know DM likes to cry about how hard he works, but the entire point is he is so anal retentative, fearful of others, and delusional that he creates all this pointless, unecessary “work” for himself.

DM knows no other life but the SO and it’s bizarre and confining mindless dedication. It’s all he has – he has no family, he has no real friends, he has no other interests – the chokehold on the CoS is all that gives his life meaning and defines his identity. He doesn’t have to be a workaholic and his work does more damage to the CoS that anything else, but yet he keeps on trucking.

Your English is quite good, which country are you from? You said something about that you got tortured – are you living ok now?

The question here is if this is true why the american authorities do not intervene. Who protect scientology to be judged and condemned ?

Thank you so much. I remember about a month ago we were talking about family obligations and feeling like if we weren’t present we’d feel like we needed to be. In this case I’m so glad I was here because I was able to get closer to my brother during the 2 months prior to his death which wouldn’t have happened otherwise, and I’m so thankful I had that opportunity.

Also my mom has needed so much emotional support during the whole process, especially after he died. After being at the hospital every day for 8-1/2 weeks, she took 2 days off because she had a friend from Australia she hadn’t seen for about 15 years come to visit (who came knowing it would very likely be the last time she’d see mom, who’s 91). Unfortunately, those turned out to be the day before he died and the day he died. I decided to visit him on that second day because I could tell mom was so exhausted she looked like she was going to collapse. (He had seemed to be getting a little better so she felt like she could take those 2 days off.) Unfortunately he got worse very rapidly while I was there, and by the time they told me to call the family because they didn’t think he had much time, mom wasn’t able to get to the hospital before he died. She will beat herself up for that until the day she dies. At least it’s been a little consolation to her that I was there, but between losing her child and the guilt she feels, it’s been extremely traumatic for her and she’s lost a lot of her spirit and really needs extra support.

So anyway, thanks again for your good wishes, and like you said, there must be a pie for times like these. (It’s the food equivalent of scientology’s “we can help you with that.”) As my sister said a few days later (as we were all using food to deal with everything) — “if you can’t eat when someone dies, when can you eat?” So, so true… Now I need to find some pie. The best is homemade, so I may just make one myself, although I will regret it when I need to pull a larger pair of jeans out of the closet!

I’m still mourning the fact that Baker’s Square deserted our area! 😉
