I know this has been a long time since it was discussed here, but I have to say that in California, we do not furnish any ID, no voter ID cards or drivers license. It has been a point of contention in many southern states where folks do not have birth certificates or have poor access to them. It has been a huge voting rights issue with Republicans trying to curtail older or poor rural folks voting rights.

I'm just running across this discussion, so excuse the late reply.
"false equivalency" "lazy logic" struck chords with me.
Concepts that seem to be having their moments currently, or that I am perceiving more, currently.
Drives me crazy when I hear "They're all the same", politically, but especially in this season.
Just an excuse to remain ignorant, and be one of those "good people" who do nothing, and, thus, let evil triumph.

Glad you and hubby got to enjoy Heart. I saw them at an intimate setting (Jones Beach, NY Amphitheater) back in 1985 or 1986! They were great. Hot summer night in the open air on the water! Couldn't have been more perfect. I had extra tickets and couldn't even give them away for some reason. I think that they'd lost some of their "oomph". They had gotten a little too 80s keyboard driven at that point (very similar to what had happened to Rush at that time). Joe Walsh opened, and he was falling down drunk. If you're a performer, the one "no no" is don't cheat your audience. I lost a lot of respect for him that night. Ughhhhhh. Kinda despicable, if you ask me.

When Plant lost his 5 year old son midway into the '77 tour, he was set on quitting Zep, from what I understand. He had to be convinced to stay on. Their last album was a HUGE misfire. "In the Evening" was a great track. The rest, not so much. Bonzo's death aside, they ended at the right time. They were done. A lot of that had to do with their letting "rock star" status go to their heads, and getting too caught up in the whole traveling roadshow aspect of it all. Of course, Page doing 13 year old girls couldn't have helped too much either.

A video was on RPs page last month of him playing with Bonzo's sisters band. He told some amusing stories about Bonzo's, pre Zep. Teenage friends who took on the world when they were barely 19 yo. They had no clue what was going to happen to them. RP had his share of tragedy, Bonzo's died. Back then they didn't have "interventions." (especially when there was a world tour on the line)
Jimmy was more prepared for it after the Yardbirds.

Saw the Wilson sisters (Heart) this week. They have been at the top of my "wanna-see" forever...more so, my husband's! I saw the Kennedy Center show, and knew Ann was still good, but she is incredible live. I won't be rude and say "at her age." There are 20 yos with top 10 albums who will never sing as good as this woman.

BTW, the Heart concert was my chance to get the hubby back for the constant LZ concert shit. I never realized what a huge fan he was of Heart, but he must have spent the past month watching every old YT video that exists. I told all of his friends he was as "excited as a 13 yo girl going to a Taylor Swift concert." I bought him a tshirt! But he did confess Joan Jett and the Blackhearts were his #1 chick band. It was a good laugh anyhow, and glad he got to see one of his favorite bands this time.

I used to take him on long walks through the park, but lately down to the corner and back is as far as he can go. He gets wobbly on his feet and I'm afraid he'll face-plant onto the concrete. Of course, we still have to keep all the doors padlocked so he doesn't just wander out. When mom doesn't feel like cooking dinner, I drive him up to Wendy's. It has to be the same place everytime, and the exact same order, or anything outside the routine makes him all FIFTEEN MINUTES TO WAPNER!
