Skipping grades doesn’t happen here anymore, really…and interesting aside, I also went into teaching!
I was also one with TONS of social issues when I arrived at high school…being two-three years younger than my classmates certainly helped lure me down some not so sunny paths.

I became a school teacher and I have had a lot of time to reflect on it. Ontario doesn’t skip kids anymore. There are good reasons for that. The teachers in the 60’s, when I was a kid, were often unable to discern the really smart kids from the kids who were less so. Guys like me had a lot of social problems with the kids who were two years our senior.

True that….
I skipped one measly grade, American public school system and am positive I never lived up to the hype…In fact I became like the classic underachiever…

Hindsight…

I had one more thought since this story, days ago. I might as well share it. It seems Peter Ramsay skipped two grades in school, which makes him seem very smart. Well, I did too, in the same Ontario school system. We are the same age. A lot of people skipped two grades. They didn’t all fulfill their childhood promise later in life.

I’m thinking he was part obnoxious, just by nature, but also mentally ill.
Either way, not someone I’d want to point their life’s focus at me.

We all SHOULD be careful with our words, I too forget that..
