I once was told by a physiologist that any human reaction or reflex can come under conscious control, with the appropriate training.

What it is that one gets an inadvertent biofeedback training with the e-meter in that if one relaxes or doesn’t engage in the emotional reactions that cause the needle to swing, then one realizes it doesn’t indicate engrams or any nonsense like that, it measures changes that can be modified with a little practice. Ironically, if it weren’t for all the time they’re forced to hold the cans and go thru that nonsense before they come to their senses, they probably wouldn’t be able to control the needle in the first place.

And with my family’s support. I am a daughter of someone every knows. The “ex-best friend of Tory Christman, Vicki Dries.” Yep, 40 something years of this. Abandoned as a teen because I had a mind of my own early. I moved to Hawaii at 16 after a year in San Fran. from 15, an orphan, right? Is it not illegal to leave your minor kids with no one to take care of them? I was lucky to be at that age to know better. That was 1969.
What do I do now????
She says to have a relationship I must prove myself trustworthy to the church as I apparently am trying to bring the church down..
I guess I am an SP. I hate her religion. I wouldn’t say so if I didn’t have this much experience. I know the Ribisi’s, I know many of them whom I grew up with and I didn’t want to make a scene. But, bringing the church down? I just want this to be between me and my mom. Now I have to bow down and go through whatever….some sort of ultra auditing. I used to spare her…. but I can’t play the game anymore.
It isn’t going to happen.
John Dries was my step dad. He was a gentle and kind man. He died last year. I was there because I loved him. So was Spanky Taylor, and Tory, his roommate. My brother James Dries, John’s son committed suicide at 20 yrs. old. Trying to make sense of his mental disorder. Do you think Scientology helped with that? I was devastated. Still am. Do you know what Vicki said to me only after a week after his death? “This is not going to ruin my life.” That is when I knew, well, again I knew, something is wrong.
It has ruined my life…..my family.
Thank you Tory for helping me get through this. Sorry you lost your best friend.
Vicki is hopeless.
So, I give up.
You know her.
What do I do?

Regarding books I should mention Rick Ross’s book Cults Inside Out as it is first rate, extensive and easy to understand and perhaps best of all lists a vast number of other books with excellent descriptions of the topics they cover, so a cultic studies curriculum could be developed entirely around that material and be quite good. Good reading.
