That rate is unbelievable but perhaps more are found through the Internet?

It is very difficult to find a psychologist around my area that is familiar with cults. It is an entirely unique creature. I did find one who deals in cults but he charges like $250 an hour. I guess they can do that when there aren’t many of them around. People in the “church” do come out. Those who are members (not staff) work normal jobs, live in homes just like everyone else and go shopping, etc. There lives just revolve around Scientology and it is the most important thing to them as it means their eternity. Dear Sara, thanks for your fast reply. I am really sorry to hear that. I agree with what you said about thinking critically and teaching that family is number one. Sara, I was wondering whether you ever asked a psychologist or psychiatrist for advice concerning approaching your daughter. In the end the “church” is playing psychological games with people and indoctrinates them. Perhaps there is an approach that can do the same but in a positive way. As an example, it is said that you can never tell a person that is ashamed a lot, not to be ashamed. Because then they are ashamed more
about not being able to stop being ashamed. Perhaps a psychologist with experience in this area could advice you what to say or do to get your daughter to at least reply to you. Or meet you. Do I make sense? I’ll discuss with my mom too, she is a social worker with specialization in family ties / family structure, maybe she has some advice that I can share.

Another question, do people in the “church” ever come
Out or are they always inside the church buildings or areas? Like, do they do normal things like going to the supermarket or restaurant where they can meet “normal” people?

Hi Nazanin – Thank you. The answer is – no. I have not seen or heard from my daughter since the day she disconnected from me. I have written to her and do continue to send postcards to my grand-daughter and daughter in hopes that she at least sees it and knows I still love them very much. I keep my faith that one day she will wake up and come home. Hold your child close. Kiss them every day and always let your child know how much you love him/her. Instill in them that family is the most important thing in this life; It is the foundation. I would have also taught my children to question everything and to think critically. I wish I had figured out how to navigate through disqus more easily than manually scrolling through the entire comment section. I haven’t. I knew I hadn’t seen Donna for quite some time, but I didn’t realize it had been that long. I agree, that makes me worry a bit. But like you, I am not terribly tech-savvy, so I don’t have any ideas. The best I can think is asking in the current comments late in the afternoon, or early in the evening (catch after-workers, and will be read by those in later time zones when they scroll through to catch-up), if anyone has seen her. Then if anyone recalls her posting something that might give a clue to an absence, they might share it. Also it will make more folks ‘on the look out for.’ Wish I could be more helpful.
