First of all, I want to apologize for using the word “overt” in my response to you. The word is vile and pretty much makes me sick.
Second of all, I want to tell you a story. I am a Methodist now or trying to be. I live in a small Midwest town and the second thing people ask you after learning your name, is “What Church do you belong to?”
My new friend, Kate, is a Methodist and that sounded as good as any to me. And so I said “First United Methodist”.And that’s how I became a Methodist. I don’t go to church on Sundays cause I sleep till noon. But I go to the potluck on Wednes and the classes afterwards. Okay, I’m almost up to my point.
Last week we talked about sin and what it meant and my brain went “WOW, now that’s something I can work with”. “Sin” means not being loving to yourself or to others. How beautiful is that?
Anyway, I feel bad about using that other vile word. I hope you will accept my apologies.

Yeppers, their son was born this past month, so he’s got another one, and hopefully this one won’t end up in Scientology (again, i don’t know about his 3 kids by his ex – but I presume they are publics) .

Oh, right, I forgot he and Amanda Palmer had a kid on the way…

Indeed it would be, but he won’t. He has not been declared, so he should have no issues with his family. Wonder how having a new young child will effect him.

I don’t know. I’m curious about his situation, though, and if/how he’s still connected to family inside. It would be fascinating if he talked.

Thanks for this. I always like to hear the stories of how people perceived my ‘Doubt Formula.’ I didn’t realize it sounded angry though. I guess I was very upset at discovering all the years and money and friends lost because they could not yet understand .

The thing is: EVERYBODY has overts. Of course I had overts. But between 1997 and 2001 I had told them EVERYTHING. I had gotten it all off. I actually knew I was completely honest and had been completely honest in session and to ethics. The line “he’s got overts” was pounded into us with ethics to provide a pat answer for people who would try to warn us. I used that very line myself when friends tried to warn me something was wrong. So much terminology designed to block information.

If Scientology works then the ‘indicators’ of overts and withholds apply not only to an individual but also to groups and organizations and businesses. And after all that sec checking I could see that the organization staff at AOLA and the IAS were lying to me. They were telling me shore stories where no need for it existed, unless they were withholding overts.

And it all goes back to Hubbard who was living a lie constantly while pretending to have the answers. Who can call out Ron for having withholds when Ron is the very person who taught us about it? And yet, if you O/W information without bias, you can see that Ron was full of withholds.

Your Doubt Formula sounded so angry. I dismissed it thinking, “He’s got overts.” Never in a million years would I have been able to wrap my wits around what you were saying, which was that the Church was lying to us. And yet that is exactly what they were doing. Good God almighty.

No wonder Ken doesn’t want to go home, and prefers to sit around his office figuring out ways to torment apostates and bigots.
