Yes – they definitely do believe this and lots of scientologists talk about discovering thetans hanging out sans body in the weirdest places. They then go into how they “get in comm” with said thetan, find out what his upset is and tell him to go off and get a new body. Not auditing as such, just talking.

Their use of “subjective reality” is one of the very few times I’ve seen them be honest. Because being a Scientologist absolutely does put you in a subjective reality. One in which Hubbard is a genius that tried to save mankind, etc, etc.
