The late British film critic, Leslie Halliwell, wrote (I'm paraphrasing), that most movies are rubbish, and that only 10% or so are worth anything at all. The seventh edition of his book, "The Film Guide" (see the link below), is the last of his published works as he passed away, sadly, after its publication. I wouldn't suggest reading updates to the Film Guide after his death, because those involved began to alter and add unnecessarily to his work.

Haliwell had a unique way of assigning "stars" to motion pictures. Now quoting from Halliwell, "Four stars, then, indicate a film outstanding in many ways, a milestone in cinema history, remarkable for acting, direction, writing, photography or some other aspect of technique." Movies at the top of my film list tend to parallel the movies in Halliwell's list of 4-Starers:

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938); Brief Encounter (1945); Double Indemnity (1944); The Four Feathers (1939); Genevieve (1953); Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956); The Lady Vanishes (1938); North By Northwest (1959); Passport to Pimlico (1949); Rebecca (1940); Stagecoach (1939); The Thief of Bagdad (1940); The 39 Steps (1935); Whiskey Galore (1948).

And your favorites, Veronica?

Thank you for the shop BTW Baby. The feet are a lil small, think oh...SURF BOARDS attached to lil pork chop adorable infant legs, but you're on point besides that - hehe. I've decided to refer to him as BB's BBB on here - which is Brave Blogger's Baby's Baby Boy, or 5B. Hehe. Having so many much fun firsts.

Although I'm not sure he enjoyed one of his firsts today (but fortunately it was a last as well) he had his "C" surgery today, but was released perfectly well a bit later. Has only cried 4 times so far aside from a cute little prune face, just short of crying, more like a sniffle that may turn into a sneeze, but doesn't when hungry. Ok. I'm done bragging...for now. I really should post a pic of just his feet. His PaPa is thinking that in several weeks he may be able to make molds/forms of them and secretly use them in forests claiming it's proof of Big Foots Child. PaPa is demented, and we all love him for it. Sorry, overflowing with joy here.

Stamp collectors everywhere got upset when the law was changed. Many countries sell stamps that are never intended to be used for postage as souvenirs that appeal to collectors of certain categories of items, like cats or dogs. The U.S. does not obsolete its stamps, so the 8-cent stamps that I have in a drawer are still worth 8 cents toward postage.

If there is a stamp for a cause, such as breast cancer, the USPS sells a "surcharge stamp" that charges five cents or so over the cost of the stamp that is supposed to go to charities that support that cause.
