thank you for subscribing to Who Class, the online course on Doctor Who! I’m excited to welcome you to the class, which has already grown into a community of thousands of fans and learners from around the world.
I’m writing to say hello, introduce myself, and to let you know that class will begin very soon with our course prerequisites, along with an introduction to Doctor Who and its origins.
Remember, Who Class is an online course that you can take at your own pace. All of the course materials, videos and disucssion will be found in our course website. In the next few days you will receive another email about accessing the course website. Keep an eye out for that!
If you’ve participated in Who Class before, welcome back! You are among the many wonderful companions that took part in our first run of the course, whether on campus or in our first massive online version last year. Sky Atlantic seem to have decided that they are on firm legal ground, have more to gain than they have to lose and it’s best for them to call Miscavige’s bluff.

The relative lack of response from the CofS compared to the last time that the film was scheduled for transmission (and cancelled, while Sky’s legal advisers went into a huddle) may be significant. There have no press campaign from Scientology, promoting their front groups, this time. They may already have backed down.

If the Sky broadcast goes ahead without drawing a response, the film will be sold into the media market and other outlets (preferably the BBC) will have an easier decision to make.

It will be open season.

From their press release – “Sky will premiere Going Clear: Scientology and The Prison of Belief on Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. on Sky Atlantic,” the company said. “The documentary, which has attracted widespread critical acclaim, is a Sky Atlantic co-production from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney.” The doc, which has already been screening in British theaters, will air on the company’s Sky Atlantic network across the U.K., including Northern Ireland, and Ireland next month, the pay TV giant said Wednesday.

I think they’re going for a ‘broadcast and be damned’ approach – they’re beaming it all over the UK/NI/RoI.

It’s to be shown in NI, as well as the rest of the UK, and the RoI.

Why would we?? We have our own in-fighting to learn about!

Former civil servant here, and now I’m wondering if I have ever spoken to you! 🙂 As for the Scinos, I think all we can do is monitor them, and the various groups they hide behind, and wait for them to break the law, and then put the boot in. Metaphorically, of course!
