P. 89: “Nibs has never gotten the motivator he sought.” Motivator is Scientology jargon. Supposedly, when one commits an “overt” (a harmful, contrasurvival act) he or she will “pull in” a motivator (a destructive or harmful act delivered against oneself). In English, they were saying that Nibs wanted to be punished for his own bad acts.

P. 115: The exploding volcano. Supposedly mention of or images of exploding volcanoes would “restimulate” (stir up, reactivate) suppressed memories of the “Wall of Fire” incident in which “thetans” (spirits, souls, persons themselves) were blown up in volcanoes 75 million years ago at the order of Xenu, a galactic bad guy. This “restimulation” was supposed to trigger interest in Scientology and was part of Scientology marketing plans (cf. Jefferson Hawkins, for example).

The book brought tears to my eyes at various points. I am especially appreciative of the honesty and integrity that Paulette herself had made some mistakes at some points. My God. How she ever regained the ability to trust is itself worthy of intense admiration!

Wow, Mockingbird — your new new blog is impressive! I didn’t realize how extensive your site is; I had only read your own personal story before . I spent half the night reading, and I have barely begun. There is so much to learn. The video links are great, as well. I especially liked the one about the pilot, Ash, correlating CD with operating the controls on an airplane. (BTW, I edited my original statement – it’s more in line with what I meant to say in the first place. Again, apologies for coming across in a rude way. Sometimes I’m just impulsive, and post without thinking. My only job here is supporting you and the others, and if I fail at that, I should leave.)
