Derek - Thanks for your thoughts and I'm sorry I'm only just now getting back to it (work out of town frequently.) Your thoughts are well taken - abuse is abuse. In our case, it was people around us who called CPS - not us. As you say, child neglect and abuse is nothing new - it has been going on for centuries. I just feel so torn about children in cults because no one around them is free enough in their own identity and thought processes to realize that all of them are being abused. At least we had relatives and family friends who could alert the authorities to what was going on. Cult children have no such help. It kills me to know how prevalent this is, in scientology and everywhere else.
Your story moved me particularly, so I just wanted to express a heartfelt kinship I feel with you. Thank you again for your thoughts. Bless your heart, Derek.

For all I know, people were oohing and ahhing because they thought it was such an imaginative story. It was a supportive group that way. You got points for just standing up and telling a story. Or maybe in Karla's mind it really happened. I wanted to ask, but I didn't have the rank to ask. It's that kind of a group too.

No it did not raise red flags, because anyone who had done professional auditor training knows the meter is subject to physical inputs.

The drills that one does to learn how the e-meter works show you how the meter can be affected by things such as breathing, moving, thinking, etc.

Most Scientologists would probably say that if one "has his ethics in" and "wants to get gains in auditing" then even if you know how to influence the meter in auditing you would not want to do so.

Most Scientologists would also say that the point of training an auditor how a meter can be manipulated is so that the auditor can easily recognize when this is occurring.

But in this day an age, when meters are most commonly used to sec check people and "find your crimes" and when auditing can go on absurdly long past the point where the person being audited feels helped, and when auditing costs so much money, you can be DAMN SURE that Scientologists who know how to keep things from reading and how to make the needle float do it ALL THE TIME.

It just makes sense.
