Telling us about how he would do a level in Scientology and he wouldn’t get the promised results — and when he brought that up, he was always told, you need the next level.

Interesting.

Someone having trouble with getting results at a certain level is then told the solution is found at the next level. In a way, it’s like telling a student who has a “misunderstood” that the solution is found by moving on from the troubling word/concept instead of dealing with it right there and then. Even from the perspective of Study Tech, that approach is bound for disaster (i.e. you can’t advance in learning without mastering the basics and showing proof of it).

Besides, why would anyone want to invest in paying for future courses or levels if concrete results aren’t being achieved in the present? At least one could readily consult a dictionary to define difficult words but what explanation is there for failed expectations? The obvious answer is that Scientology doesn’t work as claimed; the Scientology response is to either blame the person directly for the problem or to vaguely pronounce that “the tech wasn’t being applied properly”. Either way, advancement to the next level should be out of the question.

Examining the persistent absence of promised results requires critical thinking and honesty…both of which are qualities that Scientology ABHORS. My advice to the lurking Scientologist: don’t offer another dime until you are able to produce tangible, specified results upon completion of your specific level (Clear or OT). Not just feel, think or talk about them but actually DO THEM. You should be able to levitate objects without touching them, for example (a sign of being able to control MEST that has nothing to do with meeting fundraising pledges). I have yet to see a Scientology “Clear” being demonstrably different from the rest of humanity in terms of health, intelligence and ability.

Panopea, it was a wonderful surprise to meet you on Thursday of the conference! Your engaging, fun and compassionate presence there made me feel so welcome!

I was expecting to see a handful of cars and a bunch of weeds in the parking lot. I was surprised. I was also surprised to realize how much land they control. Google maps makes it look like the whole peninsula is state park, but it’s not. Gates with “Property of Narconon Arrowhead” block off all the roads leading to the duplex cabins and to a large boat ramp area.

Spike, I miss you and the gang too! It was an incredible event…and you were such an essential part of it! Thanks, thanks, thanks and congrats. I hope your return home is pleasant and relaxing. I returned to NM to find heat and plants withering, so I’ll spend the next 3 or 4 days getting water to them.
