I got chicken pox just as the vaccine was getting approved.
My child was 3, and I was 35.
After that awful period, my MD, our family doctor said she would have waited to give our child the vaccine but insisted that I get the vaccine as this disease is so much harder on adults than kids.

I am lucky that I did not have lingering affects, except for not true scars, but depressions where I had large pustules. Now they are gone, but it took years.

You have my empathy. It would not wish adult chicken pox on anyone. it was a miserable period of time
