Huh, I was unaware that I implied you didn’t teach, please put more words in my mouth as my doctor really wants to me gain more weight. And no, you did not answer my questions, you were vague, made generalizations or just ignored them. Then when I asked more, you became condescending and now you are putting words in my mouth—I hope they’re chocolate coated! Yum, chocolate!! And really? You need access to academic databases to get those articles? No way!! Golly gee whiz, I can do that at home—access the academic database at Kent State as an alumni. Thanks for also making an assumption about my attitude, you were wrong there to, as I DID want to hear what you had to say but no, you think I did not. Make your assumptions, falsely. I feel bad for your students if they are taught false assumptions, shouldn’t you know better? Seriously. And right back at you—“you can think what you like” but you’re wrong.

Now, the train left the station at 3pm going at 45mph. At 3:30pm it stopped and picked up James and his giant peach then left that station at 3:35pm continuing at 45mph. At 3:45pm it was discovered the giant peach did not have a ticket. At 5:30pm passengers were served tea with freshly made peach cobbler, peach pie and peaches and cream. They arrived at their destination at 7pm. Questions:

What was the final destination?
What color was James’ sweater?
What temperature was the tea?
Finally, write a 2 page essay either for or against capital punishment for fare dodgers.

Miss Tia, I don’t know what you’re talking about. You asked questions, I answered them. Your attitude right from the start was one of not wanting to hear what I said. I tried to explain more clearly, but you apparently took that the wrong way. I tried to explain as completely as I could but it doesn’t seem to have helped.
I do not understand your behavior on this. You asked questions. I answered them. I’m sorry they upset you. That was not the intention. I have never thought, nor do I think, that you’re an idiot. But I also don’t understand why you think I would answer you with info from a website. I’ve lectured on this topic over and over again. I’ve studied this stuff for over a decade. I know it inside and out, and those are my words. Mine! I didn’t include citations for others ideas, as most of them aren’t available on the general Internet. You need access to academic databases to get these articles.
I also don’t know why you’re implying I don’t teach. You can think what you like, but I’ve never given you any reason to doubt what I say. And I am offended by your implication.

April Moonlight. Thanks for your comments. I’m not saying that the cycle of violence doesn’t happen. It does. But it’s not the cause of a lot of sexual assault or child abuse. Don’t throw it out completely.
Can a pedophile change? I don’t believe so. I hold to the medical model (the mental health model), that there is some sort of chemical imbalance, some sort of mental illness that is the cause (in conjunction with other variables). There is some success for pedophiles in giving them testosterone inhibitors, as well as using SSRIs and some anti-psychotics. However, in many states, taking such meds is not voluntary and so there are serious problems with compliance. Also with the idea of forcing people, even if they are hated sex offenders, into taking medications that can have serious detrimental effects upon them and their long-term health.
I ascribe to the “born psychopath” idea, though environment plays its role. I don’t think such people can be changed; most have no desire to change their behavior, since they think they’re above the rules of humanity. Again, some medications may help with some behaviors, but I don’t think they can change their fundamental natures. Keep in mind, this is my interpretation of what’s known about psychopaths; there are others who take the same perspective I do, but there are as many who adopt other theories, some who think psychopathy is strictly learned behavior and therefore it can be unlearned.
I probably won’t answer many more queries so fully here. Not because I don’t want to, but because It’s off-topic and I feel bad that I’m taking up comment space on a topic that many probably don’t want to hear about.

That’s exactly what I was thinking! All three kids are good-looking, and the youngest cutie looks just like a mini-Marc, he’s got the same face as his Dad. 🙂 What a great family photo.

Stacy, that’s absolutely fascinating information, thanks so much. Wow, the things one learns here. I wish I were able to take one of your classes, you are very knowledgeable and explain things so that they can be easily understood. I always believed the cycle of abuse myth also, we were taught that in Psychology class. I wonder if a pedophile can ever change and not be a threat to society? Or is it so deeply ingrained into the personality that it can’t be helped and can only be handled from a criminal justice perspective? Another question I’ve been pondering for some time is if a true sociopath could ever be changed, or if it’s hopeless, and one can only hope to contain the actions of the person? Again, great info, learned a lot. Thanks for sharing.
