You nailed it – Miscavige is not stupid, but at the same time, he is completely nuts. When the whole world of books goes digital, he builds the biggest press in the world. When CDs and DVDs start dying out, he builds a humongous CD/DVD factory. And now, when TV is dying and is well into the process of being made completely obsolete by internet TV/video, he wants to start a TV station. What’s next? Is he gonna invest in Scientology’s very own steam engine powered railroad company?

I agree 100% that he makes these seemingly stupid moves for 2 reasons only:

1. They are new objects (renderings) to collect money for. As always, more is collected “for the building” than needed, and the extra cash is used for legal and other expenses to keep the sinking ship afloat for a little bit longer.

2. Hollow internal PR that tries to impress the donors still left that “Scientology is winning”. it’s a big Ponzi scheme where he shows how grand his expansion PLANS are, then takes money to build the empty buildings to use as props and sets for his next event video to advertise the “great expansion” of… well, square footage, so he can do it all over again. “Success” in Scientology (and in Miscavige’s mind) is defined today as “we built what Miscavige told us would clear the planet, and well, here it is! It has been built and it’s oh so magnificent! All hail Miscavige! Now, the next thing you need to donate for is…”
