IN my locality, there have been some ?sting operations and those have cost several drivers lots of money in tickets.

They claim they want to operate legally but don’t. I just wish consumers saw them for the false economy that they represent.

hope the court case , concerning the little girl who was killed in SF, makes Uber pay.

Google for “Uber” and you will get a lot of results about the ways they skirt existing transportation-for-hire laws. Those kind of apps are here to stay, I don’t argue that, but Uber has gotten to where it is by essentially taking an Ayn Randish attitude of “Who’s gonna stop me? Until someone does, I’ll do as I please.” (And ignore any existing regulations) Of course the “we are not a taxi service, we are just a ride-sharing app” is pure lies. There are insurance liabilities involved, as well as cursory background checks that don’t seem to screen out felons and poor, dangerous, drivers. Also, the system is a set-up for “distracted driving”.
