I should point out that agent provocateur occasionally appear here – people who start a discussion reasonably enough, but then turn nasty. The responses can be kept going for ages with short, provocative, posts. This makes the discussions hard to follow (often on ‘big news days’).

Yes… I know… it’s easy to become paranoid (and that is what they want). So it’s another reason to break off at the first sign of abuse.

I’m fine with people being frank in discussion – as long as it stays on subject. If I’m wrong (and I often am) tell me why. “You are stupid” is rarely a good counter-argument.

In everyday life 🙂 . I had left the Sea Org and then had very little contact with ex-members.

Speaking on behalf of all human beings. We’re all damaged goods, Vinnie. Sometimes we don’t process things correctly, sometimes we don’t act right. We try… I think you have something of value to contribute, and hope you will continue.

I addressed you with my comment, but you weren’t the only one giving Vinnie less than a warm reception. I don’t think Vinnie was engaged in willful distortion. He WAS engaged in a sincere exploration. As I understood his post, I did not see him changing the context or meaning of things, at least not intentionally. Perhaps, there will be a future conversation when lack of clarity, misunderstandings or differences are handled with humor rather than a put down.
