I’ve had my lumps with depression. I still have my ups and downs, though they’re not as severe. I’m sorry I didn’t keep my feelings to myself. It was an unusually stressful day for me. And then the Robin thing hit me. I read your comment. I slipped. I got critical.

I still have my feelings. But there are some that I shouldn’t share, at least not in such an accusatory way.

I was hurt. Maybe I was wrong. To me, saying he was the last person you’d expect to commit suicide hurt somewhere inside. I put it in the same category of ignorance as telling a depressed person “why don’t you just snap out of it.”

But you didn’t mean it that way. Maybe you meant it as a compliment, that you wished him happiness.

Didn’t Jeff have some involvement in scientology? Didn’t he say something about them being leery about him because he’d worked for the government? And isn’t he involved with the indie group, Milestone 2? That’s what I thought. If I’m wrong about that, I apologize.

And what’s wrong with kicking a little knowledge about a much misunderstood subject?

And even if I did have some kind of insight into his mentality, did you really expect me to “do something?” That’s dumb.

I’m sorry to hear you have such issues, IBBy. I have a lot of issues too, and I don’t wish them upon anyone. I hope you can pull through, and maybe one day leave them behind.

Yes, calling him a caveman is mature discourse. The world was shocked by this–the majority of public did not know about the depth of his depression. What the hell are you arguing about? He never even mentioned the word depression or expressed a view about it.

As well, clearly, you don’t even know who Jeff is or have seen any of his videos, work, or blogs. He has never been a scientologist.
You doth protest a bit much for a passing comment that almost everyone shares–shock! It has nothing to do with Scientology, Darwin, or neuroscience. If you are not shocked and knew that he was going to take his life, then why didn’t you do something?
