One of the things that I noticed in my church growing up was that there were few people who had advanced degrees or were graduates with other than technical degrees. There were people who had engineering degrees because engineers often aren’t required to take the liberal arts courses.

In more traditional churches, there tended to be more education. Catholic churches vary because it depends on the socioeconomic status of the area they are located in. Fundamentalism requires a lot of belief without examining the sources of the bible. There are other factors that will require a long dissertation.

There are, of course, bible colleges. Their accreditation is usually at a lower level, and there are courses that don’t count for credit when transferring to a traditional college.

The prosperity gospel scam has been around for a long time, and grew up entirely independent of $cientology. As a friend of mine puts it, you can tell how poor a family is by how many pictures of Jesus they have on the wall. It’s a matter of hope for something better.

I say that you can tell how poor a community is by the number of storefront churches there are with long names, such as “The Mount Sinai Church of those Washed in the Blood of the Lamb,” to be facetious.

Often, those churches do provide a lot of mutual support to the old, the sick, and the hungry, in addition to their all-encompassing social programs, which is not something that happens in $cientology, where there’s no charity.

There is a strong component of a “them vs. us” mentality. From the pulpit, people are told to distrust other sources of information., or they are taught to look at it, as you have said, as being from the Devil. After all, his job is to sow seeds of doubt.

IIRC, it isn’t necessary to get a tan to get enough vitamin D. Osteporosis also is resulted from lack of exercise. Nichole Kidman was supposedly encouraged to get into theater as a young girl because she has so little melanin in her skin. It’s also why her skin is so wrinkle free at the age of 47.

People forget that both Kidman and Mel Gibson were born in the U.S. She because her father was working for the University of Hawaii, and he because his nutty father decided that Catholicism in the U.S. was getting too liberal, so he emigrated to Oz.

Have you noticed that the entertainers who get involved with $cientology generally don’t have a university education? You won’t see actors who’ve attended Yale drama school involved with Co$. AFAIK, there’s none.

Yep spot on time wise. I’m in Melbourne with the same time as Sydney. Sydney is an 11 hour drive away and also a wonderful place.
Asking a born again about what they did to ‘pull it in’ is easily explained….”The enemy is attacking them”, once again responsibility is placed back on the dreaded *Devil* but all non church members who are suffering some physical infirmity its because, the are *sinners*. Stats show most Born Agains have a low educational standard, whearas Catholics are mostly Uni graduates. Not raving on about any particular brand of religion, but wonder why the less education the more they tend to join a born again brand?
Am guessing it’s the Prosperity scam that the born agains advocate, follow us and get rich quickly. Jesus doesn’t want you to be poor, so just give me all your moneeeeeeeee and sadly they do and live on in hope for this magic moneeeee to manifest. You have some really good points, especially when comparing co$ teachings to the born agains. Blubbard stole everything from everyone and I’m sure he stole and added an extra twist to the rabid church doctrines. Or due to the time line, could it be the born agains stole it from blubbard????
Bit worried about this thought, as you so accurately portrayed the similarities. One of the worst of these is shyster’s is Benny Hinn, his once right hand man left and outed his greedy grab for moneeeeeeee and quoted Hinn as boasting he “just got that old lady’s last 5 bucks” and laughing about it.
One of my ex-friends refused to listen or read the email I sent her. Yep you guessed it….It was the enemy trying to discredit her churches favourite shyster. Her Pastor proudly model’s himself on greedy benny. So the question remains who came first in the endless greedy grab for money, blubbard or the church? Back to osteoporosis: Men get osteo as well and more and more young people stay out of the harsh Australian sun. To me, the thing that is ironic is that Cruise can afford to hire people to do what the sea org does. I don’t think that he asks for the services of Co$ as much as Mismanage probably offers them to him. It’s a way to keep $cientology spies around Cruise and to keep him involved. Go compare his private life to Harrison Ford’s.

Whenever I hear of those big protests, I have my strongest desire to go counter protest with signs about Xenu and the 4th Dynamic Engram, which is Scientology/Hubbard’s root spiritual theoretical justification to try fight the courts and vested interests which Hubbard believed/s causes earth it’s sorrow and tragedy!

It’s always good to position Scientology with the Xenu and Body Thetans causing 4th dynamic engram, and their beliefs in who the world’s bad guys are in this Hubbard narrative!
