I think that your assessment of the cult as continuing on a very small basis is true, as well as the seekers for past life existence will take up some part of $cientology. In another generation, there will be a brief flare up of a different form of the cult, I believe, but that’s why it’s important to expose the toxicity of Hubbard’s ideas.

The subject, the therapy/exorcism is out there, and people will stumble on it all by itself without any promotion of it at all. The official church might in a few decades, maybe less, collapse or seriously downsize, of it’s own bad management and bad marketing. But that wouldn’t destroy it, it’d just downsize drastically, and even a tax exemption loss in the US wouldn’t destroy it, just downsize it massively.
