I always took Campbell’s editorials as written to provoke answers and thought. I learned from them to carefully read or listen to what a person put forth.

People who responded to his editorials would often make the mistake of not reading his thesis carefully, because he wrote them very narrowly and specifically. He would just point to what he’d written and, in essence, win the point because he had defined the playing field.

It is the same tactic that $cientologists use: they define the terms, and if you accept them, you will lose the argument.

Maybe it’s me, but I had the feeling that JWC enjoyed the rhetoric involved in the discussions that followed his editorials. Aside from the people who didn’t read them carefully, there were often well-written and documented responses from what I considered intellectual heavyweights.

Maybe it’s me, but I always thought that JWC just loved to be provocative. That’s one way to sell magazines.

I watched it happen with people – the deeper in $cientology, the more their careers went down. Let’s take Jeff Pomeranz – great looks, charming personality, big soap opera star in NYC when I met him. He moved to L.A. and in addition to doing stupid things like deciding an 18 year-old was his “whole track item” he became consumed with $cientology activities and hasn’t (as far as I know) done much of anything as an actor for a few decades. In contrast, when I got out of $cientology I quit coming up with scenarios with psychiatrists as villains and got about 50 books published. The Bridge to Total Freedom is only for those who ESCAPE $cientology.

I hope that someone who knows Robin and/or his team reads what we have just said and encourages him to look into it. And I disagree that “Co$ isn’t visible enough to be public.” Cruise, Travolta and Remini have all kept scn in the popular celebrity (and even more high-scale) magazines and media as well as Jason Beghe, Paul Haggis and others. Robin’s routine would be a very effective hoot…. I would pay to go see it and I think others would as well.

Fair-gaming Robin Williams? dm is just dumb and clueless enough to do it…… and Robin and friends would take the fair-gamers out…. even the FBI and IRS agents like Robin and his insane humor. Can’t wait until his show comes back on CBS this fall.
