Ahem. Let’s see.

Maybe I’m a die-hard Scientologist who not only goes online, but reads this suppressive blog and even posts comments. Through a combination of denial and mental gymnastics, I’ve managed to concoct a plausible theory to explain how a man with Hubbard’s superhuman omniscience can come up with such complete and utter horse shit. The garbage he spews is a feature, not a bug. He did it on purpose. Hubbard, like God, works in mysterious ways and we shouldn’t necessarily expect to understand them. Or him.

Yeah, I suppose that’s a possibility.

Another possibility is that I’m a non-Scientologist who reads this blog because the cult is as interesting as it is appalling. Maybe I’m continually astounded that otherwise intelligent people fall for it. Not only do they believe Hubbard’s horse shit, but somehow they even manage to defend it. The cult is by no means a laughing matter, but it can nonetheless engender a great deal of gallows humor. Hubbard’s writings and cult members’ gullibility are both easy targets. Apparently, and amazingly, they can put a positive spin on absolutely anything, including this shining example of Hubbard’s painfully sophomoric and pseudo-intellectual lunacy.

I guess there’s really no way to determine which of these two possibilities is more likely. I myself can hardly stand the uncertainty. What the hell, let’s go with Option Number One. Everyone loves to get angry, very angry, and to get their feathers ruffled from time to time. (Some love it more than others.)
