I haven’t been in the comments much lately, but I still check in often. I am thrilled that you survived the awfulness to become a great communicator for the cause. I am pleased to have been one of your students, and now you will be able to teach so many more.

I guess rankings mean a lot to most people who have a website, blog or business. Having some way to measure your success, or lack thereof, can be invaluable.

For a business it can be a measure of growth, and/or for sizing up your competition. Rising or falling rankings can show if you are making good or bad business decisions, and surely passing your competitors on the rankings must be a big thrill.

However, in one case where the rankings can be important is if you are dependent on ads and banners on your site. The higher your ranking the more and larger advertisers you could potentially attract. If you were to spend any kind of money on advertising you would want the
most exposure for your buck. Being in the top 100 or 1000 could potentially get you some big customers.

In Tony’s case his site is not full of ads, and it does not seem like hits and rankings are that important to him. He has a steady following of readers, and he does it for his own, and our
pleasure. If you just love blogging the rankings should not mean that much. Some people however can come to the point of closing down their blog if they have few or no readers at all, so to them having a good ranking could be “make or break”.

In regards to helping Tony’s rankings I don’t think there is any need to take any action just yet. Although his rankings have fallen, so has Davey’s. Tony’s lowest ranking since I started
recording is nowhere near Davey’s highest ranking, and for the moment they are over 30K ranking places apart. When we see a difference of less than 10K, then we can start worrying.

Still_On_Your_Side — Your post made me think that children mistreated or exploited by by Scientology could sue both the cult and parents in some cases.
