Wash D.C. got boiled in a clambake by the Red-X day crew today.
Two major metro areas, both cleared of clams.
MIghty SPs, clearing Craigslist, one city at a time...

Time for the Red-X night crew to show their stuff.

Dolly did a great job picking up on Sacramento's "reposting" scam. So here's one EZ link list so you can flag all 7 Sacramento ads that were posted/reposted in the last 24 hours: https://sacramento.craigslist.org/favorites?fl=b2NyYWF5Zmc6NDQ3MDAzMjU5MiwxNDc2Mzk1MSwxNjIzNjI4NCwyMDcxNjU5NSwyMzUwNDk2OSwyNTIyMjA1OCwyNjE4Njk5MQ==

Thanks rom661. I was thinking it had to be before my time since the Excal had been sold off by 1977. I wonder if your berthing was at the manor or the earlier modern building on North La Brea Avenue? (IIRC) Did you know Patti LaMarr?

We all feel better when we are helping others. It's the nature of life. Just blooming. It's calling our energy up and out. And the "blessing" comes up through us as it travels to the other person. So we get a whiff of that amazing love energy as it comes through us. That's why dogs and cats are so therapeutic.... people get to love them and pet them and nurture them. It's all energy. Pretty beautiful.

Ultimately Love is the only thing that matters. Out of all this complexity of life... ultimately everything always boils to love.

I'm with you, Wannabe. I have a script for Xanax but my "current" "thirty-day supply" is about two years old at this point. It's my little safety blanket in my purse in case I have a full-blown panic attack. But, mostly, my Effexor script keeps me good. :)

The rabid anti-psychiatry stance is one of the (many) things that I truly despise about this cult. If it weren't for some awesome therapists and modern medicine, it's quite possible I wouldn't be here today. I certainly wouldn't be a fully functional, career-having, social butterfly.

Again, thanks for your input on two subjects I know nothing about. I wondered if people ever called the police!

I was particularly struck by your comment about Scientologists never saying thank you and always demanding more. I have no religious affiliation and the causes I do support are so desperate for money that they would never risk alienating a potential donor by making any demands whatsoever. I am, however, familiar with the leadership and some of the congregation at one of my local churches, only because they let me use their basement for a Saturday morning tutoring program. All they ask of me is that I clean up before I leave. I appreciate their generosity to me and this program (which they see as part of their role in society -- facilitating community improvement whether or not they are actually involved), but I'm also really impressed by the way they run their church. They ask for money and have very legitimate and varied uses for as much as they can possibly get. No one seems to be getting rich, and there is evidence here, and in other cities I've lived where the same group is active, that they are actually doing very good things with the money they receive. But, here, at least, it's made very clear that there are many ways to help without giving money and that you are welcome even if all you can contribute is your unique presence in their community (within reason, of course... violence is no doubt frowned upon). You're even welcome if you need help and are unable to offer anything in return. I'm sure they hope that you will at some point find a way to return the favor, but it's by no means a requirement. This kind of fellowship amongst a very diverse group of people helps me understand at least some aspects of the appeal of "religion" and its potentially beneficial role in people's lives. I can't even come close to understanding how this group can <i>possibly</i> believe what they believe, but I can't fail to recognize that they are in fact making the world a better place.

I was naive to begin with. I was open, willing, and hung ho. And I had the money coming in. And I wanted to help. After a while I got really tired of their game... and realized that it was never enough. No matter how much I gave, they would never say thank you... just "gimme some more." When I finally clued in to what was happening, I called my police department nearby and told them that I was leaving the Co$ and that there were people who would come to my door late at night wanting money and refused to go away until I gave them some. I asked the police if I could put them on AutoDial and would they come if I called, because I live alone and am single. The policeman said, "Absolutely." So the next time that a group came to the door I looked out the window and told them to go away. They refused. I held up the phone and said that I have the police on AutoDial and that if they don't go away right this instant then I will call the police and they can explain themselves to the cops. They were kaflumoxed... talked amongst themselves and drifted back to their cars. I think one more group came like that... I told them the same thing... and nobody has come since. Whew!

There are a few good network marketing companies. I've been in some bad ones... and there are a lot of "money games"... because bad people see the opportunity... just like in corporate America or used car dealers. It is important to do your research, find a company that is stable (not a start-up... although people tout those as "ground floor opportunities"... you can get ground up in them). Get something stable with great training, a product that you personally use and are passionate about. Check out corporate management. Treat it like you would if you bought a franchise. I coined the word "Friendchise." If you find a good one and treat it like you had mortgaged your home and used all your savings to buy a franchise (of course, network marketing is very low startup)... then you can truly build a remarkable income. I went from 46 cents in the bank to multiple 6 figures in a few years. Residual income. 83% of the women in the U.S. who are making 6 figures or more are doing it in this industry. It doesn't get a lot of press, because we don't advertise... and advertisers control the press. :-) The key is to do your research.

I was naive to begin with. I was open, willing, and hung ho. And I had the money coming in. And I wanted to help. After a while I got really tired of their game… and realized that it was never enough. No matter how much I gave, they would never say thank you… just “gimme some more.” When I finally clued in to what was happening, I called my police department nearby and told them that I was leaving the Co$ and that there were people who would come to my door late at night wanting money and refused to go away until I gave them some. I asked the police if I could put them on AutoDial and would they come if I called, because I live alone and am single. The policeman said, “Absolutely.” So the next time that a group came to the door I looked out the window and told them to go away. They refused. I held up the phone and said that I have the police on AutoDial and that if they don’t go away right this instant then I will call the police and they can explain themselves to the cops.
