In reply to <a href="https://tonyortega.org/2014/04/29/scientologys-hogwarts-doesnt-want-you-to-think-its-connected-to-scientology/comment-page-1/#comment-526181">Still_On_Your_Side</a>.

It's called Work-Study. I started work at 14 there. I knew what I was doing and so did my parents. The thing is, certain students whose parents were not able to cover the cost of the education helped out by doing work. It's not like we were treated like slaves or anything. Sure the rich kids hated it but that part was hilarious. I personally loved doing it. So much so that I eventually rose to the top. I was being trained to manage of all the student workers there. In charge of everyone. mwahahahaa.

I eventually had to drop out of the school though. As I would have been 23 if I had graduated from there. And yes, because of the insane costs. I can say though that being in the real world is much better than it used to be now that I'm grown up.

The reason I went there in the first place is because my parents had been trying to find a school for me that I could do well in and get away from my bullies. We eventually happened upon The Delphian School and decided to take the chance. Though the bullying didn't stop till I was in highschool, I am still glad I went there. I realized that I was one of the brightest kids there.

The school dragged me out of my depressive apathy and made me believe in myself. I have to say that though she passed away now, I am eternally greatful for my true teacher I had there. Since I wasn't doing well when I came into the school at first they sent me to a different part of the school to work with someone else. She passed away now, but may god rest her soul.

I got away from my bullies, learned how to read again (I was truly terrible at it when I came there) and came to love math with a passion. When I returned from there I became one of the top students for a while. Eventually though, I realized that I was just getting bored there. I think I got to a point where I thought it was to easy, and so my grades began to drop. Eventually, they came to me and said that with the pace that I had had then, I would finish and graduate at 23. I remember thinking that I wanted to stay. To stay with my friends, in an environment that I was used to. I'm glad I did not.
I left and went to community college, and loved every bit of it. The people were so nice, the people around me seemed so real. Like there was something missing from the Delphian school that I had found there.

I'm 22 now and so far have graduated my associates with honors and am getting my bachelors this year. I'm also looking into trading and thinking about getting trained later in computer coding. My school work is not done though, as I just got my degree in history, so I will have to advance it.

The only real issue I have with the school is the price. Up there they always talk about how they want to expand and push the curriculum into other schools. I don't think that all of it would be good, because there are certainly some things that they could leave out, like the ethics program or other things of the sort. But the real issue I have with them is that, even though they say all of those things, they forget that their price tag is around $40,000 a year for the high schooler sent there (the prices range downward the lower the grades of education. e.g: highschool $$$$$ middle school $$$$ lower school $$$), which is insane. I mean, how do they not expect people to disagree if they think they would have to pay an obscene amount in order to go to the school. It's stupidly obvious why. Just lower your prices, or even better, if it is the thing that saves the world, why not make it free? (which is kind of where you see the true reason why. money. The world runs on it). Though I do know a way around that. There is a way to go for free. You have to work there for at least one child to go for free.

Still, now that I know the curriculum, and if my kids don't want to go to public school, I'll just home school em'.

And yes, I kinda knew Bella, Tom Cruises daughter. She was cool. It was hilarious because the first time I met her, my friend introduced her to me when I was eating and I was like, "Bella? Hi I'm Alex." Then I went on eating. I didn't even know who she was. Then my friend was like "But, you do know who this is right?" to which I cluelessly replied "Bella? So?" Then he said something along the lines of like "Dear god... You know... the Bella... Cruise?" while pointing at her. Then at this point I was getting weirded out because I thought it was my friend that was acting like an idiot. So I replied, "Oookay? Yeah, Bella Cruise. What of it... Oh. Ah, Tom Cruises daughter?" to which they said "Yeah dude! But, why aren't you like, freaking out right now? You just met a celebrities daughter," to which I simply replied, "Is she human? Yes, I believe she is. Hi Bella, nice to meet you." Then I went right back to eating. Being surrounded by rich people, desensitizes you to rich people. Figures.

Merely a kindergarden for job-placements after they're accepted at a reputable university, and receive lofty degrees, because of a wealthy contributor's recommendation. Then on to government!! By that time they owe so many favors they know they can't get out. Just a guess, maybe I've seen too many movies, starring Thomas Cruise.

I and my then-wife worked at the Delphian Foundation from mid 1975 to part-way into mid 1977. I worked in what one might call the facilities department. I had come to Delphi after getting into Scientology at the Scientilogy Mission in Davis, California. At that time, Martin Samuels was running a successful network of Scientology Missions in Northern California, and it was Samuels and his associates that started Delphi. All of the staff then were Scientologists, and the school administration and study methods were based on Hubbard's principles.

The staff then were starry-eyed, expecting to change the world with Scientology applied to kids in an educational setting. Samuels was the big cheese, had a very fancy office, but was not directly involved in the day-to-day operations of the school or the facility. It almost felt like is was a place for him and his high-level Scientology friends to kick back and be served by the staff of the school.

Like others involved in Scientology-related activities, the staff worked for very little, on the idea they were helping save the world.

I can't speak about the school there today, but this was what I knew of it back then.
