That New Year’s Event is from 2010! What’s up with that, where is the 2014 video? I like the little girls win from the How to Get Motivated course, it’s very cool. And what’s wrong with the Mother’s Day event? I don’t see any reason to be nasty about any of this stuff here. These are just happy celebrations of good news and people’s wins. Why attack that? Clearly there have been some disastrous things going on at some of the Narconons but this other stuff I see no reason to be attacking. I don’t like it when the Church has attacked people and been nasty but I also don’t like it when the flow is reversed. This is just people in the church practicing Scientology the Church way. To each his own!

Thanks! At first I had said things about it being held in a Scino church and people posing in front of the cross, but since she already addressed that Scino had given them the space, I dropped that and drew attention to fundraisers they had sponsored that tied LwB and Happy House, which is certainly Scino and uses TWTH showing the link.

I think this is one of those groups that gets people “comfortable” with the cult by having activities in their “church”, participating in toy drives with the fire department, etc. – which seems to give it legitimacy.

Thanks Cars! Yes, I used to work in Customer Service for a food company and I still have copies of our letters from people who obviously had mental illnesses (back then I just thought they were funny). They would write pages and pages of single spaced letters. One I remember is about how Michael Landon, one of the actors on Bonanza who had died, hadn’t really died and it was a conspiracy that we needed to look into.

I posted it today very early, so I’ll post it again. I don’t think I posted my very first email to them that they then replied to above, so hear it is. Maybe it will give you some more ideas! (I put links in there to the TBT, Time, and the Bunker but they’re not showing up here.)

Initial email that she is replying to: (sent to both CEOs & Mktg.Calif)…the links don’t work but I linked to everything.

I was very concerned when I saw a flyer that said that you are sponsoring a Scientology event on May 4th in Pasadena (flyer attached). I became aware of this when I read today’s post on TonyOrtega.org .

I know that part of your mission is to be involved in the community, which is highly commendable. This time, however, I think you have missed the mark by sponsoring an event for an abusive cult.

This is not just my opinion. Since 2009 the Tampa Bay Tribune has done extensive investigative reporting on Scientology. Time magazine did a cover story entitled “Scientology:The Thriving Cult of Greed and Power” (mirrored because it is no longer online). You only have to google “scientology abuse” to see pages and pages of links to first-person accounts of abuses. Also, please google “Operation Snow White” and “Operation Freakout” to see the unbelievable lengths that this group will go to.

I know this may sound preposterous, but if you read even a little of the reports I have linked to, you will see what this group is really about. I absolutely hold to the freedom that anyone should be allowed to believe whatever they wish, but it is the abusive behavior of this cult that I and many others take issue with.

I hope that you will reconsider your sponsorship of this event. I respectfully request that you reply to this email so that I will know where you stand.

the flier SAYS ‘church of $cientology’—that really implies it’s THEM and not a non-denominational thing…and $cienos don’t allow ‘others’ to their events! They are exclusive, unless you buy something first!

These are great emails. I’m glad you are posting copies of them. I appreciate that you are posting them to me under Sunday’s post where I originally made my comment but my only concern is that your letters are not being posted under Tony’s blog post of today so other people can see how well these are written and it might give me ideas and as well as a format to follow in writing their own emails. I love your soft but persistent tone in these.

I also chuckled at your, “… probably sound like a conspiracy theorist or a nut…” as I’m sure people at these large corporations must be inundated by letters written by such troubled characters as you have described – and you would know since you work(ed) in Fortune 100 corporations. You have addressed straight away some of their (sometimes) immediate, and sometimes jaded, reactions to letters of complaint from strangers that they must have most days. It is a smart tactic for you to use. It also is a witty segue for introducing yourself and eliminating their misdirected suspicions or concerns.

You are doing a great job with these and they are taking you seriously, as they should, based on the fast turnaround in their response. Congratulations!

I know I would be me a more aggressive online activist if a) I had a computer that was reliable (it’s coming, soon I hope) but more importantly, I would write more often if b) I had someone else’s letter to inspire me, guide me in the tone and format to use, and it would also give me ideas as what to include for links or send as hardcopy documentation. This is why I said it was unfortunate your letters weren’t posted under today’s Tony post. I do appreciate you going through the time and trouble of posting it here for me, however. Or perhaps you did post under today’s date, as well. I’m having a lot of computer crashes today AND Disqus problems so I haven’t returned to today’s comments since early this afternoon.

Thanks for what you are doing on behalf of all of us. It is important work! See you in the Bunker later on – hopefully. 🙂
