He formerly workeed for a Scientology affiliated company that might be a front. company for the organization. He gave me an offer of employment, but would not say what it involved or the wages, but told me if I accepted , I could. have no other job! Of course, I did not accept his offer, and refuse to do so. I have language skills that are very desireable but not at below minimum wage! As you fill in more details about your friends, the more it becomes apparent that this decision of theirs is so huge and overwhelming that it is likely they will postpone making a decision for as long as they can. I can understand that. And sometimes, not making a decision is in fact making a decision – rightly or wrongly. It must be awful for them and must be awful for you to have to stand back and wait quietly in the wings.

I believe you are right to not push any harder at this point. They are probably still processing the information and the doubts you instilled that day. They might be quietly doing their own research, who knows. They also need to be discussing this with their children, too, as there will be a huge fallout if they decide to leave.

It leaves me with no words. Even knowing what I know and believe what I believe, I still don’t know what I’d do if I were in their shoes. That’s how hard I imagine this to be for them – especially at this point in their lives.

And it can’t be easy on you to have to wait this way. I will keep you and them (the whole family) in my best wishes daily. You are a pretty special person. I hope you know that about yourself. I could tell by your other comments before that you were, but now hearing how many others you have helped to leave the chnrch and the way you approach and handle them makes me respect you even more. It is difficult to be doing what you do and it takes a great deal of courage, compassion, and personal sacrifice. So please take good care of yourself, too, in this process.

And if it’s appropriate, keep us apprised of the developments in this difficult situation. I wish there was some way I could help, but I know that’s unrealistic and an impossibility, so the best I can offer is to remind you that I am hear to listen and offer moral support – as are the rest of your friends here in the Bunker.

You know, perhaps, from reading here that we all struggle with a “where to start” conversation with outsiders. Sometimes, we overwhelm people with the Scientology stuff, and then our friends and relatives look at us like we are nuts.

Yours is so much harder. You’re speaking to a couple you KNOW, and there is once again so much to talk about. Where does one begin? Well, you nailed it. That’s what hit us all so hard. And left us with a sense of guarded optimism that it just might work.

I hope you do take me up the offer to visit Philly. Bring your important other….we have cheesesteaks, (among other real food), great beverages and a bit of history.
