Is it troubling that WotF is funded by Scientology? Yes. On the other hand, I can’t blame writers for entering the contest anyway. As a secular humanist I don’t like ANY religions and to me they’re ALL basically cults. I don’t care whether you think the magical cloud-god, or sparkly unicorns, or aliens created humanity. Any way you slice it, you’re an idiot. If people are gullible enough to join a cult and then they can’t figure out how to get out of it, why should I feel sorry for them?

Ah, Mooser, indeed. The pathetic little guy is most certainly a paranoid personality, and I would imagine a narcissistic, borderline personality if not actually sociopathic. It actually is very disturbing, under all the ribbing and epithets we throw at him. He is actually doing immense harm to many, many persons. He needs actual psychiatric help.
