This is an amazing country.

I’ve had flying asian carp slam against my boat in the Mississippi at Memphis, jellyfish in Wilmington, NC.pulsate languidly, porpoises (or were they dolphins?) in I forget where (maybe Savannah), and don’t forget about the brain and flesh eating parasites you may pick up if you sink at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi at Cairo.

Ah, Cairo. I think Clemens writes about Cairo. I’m trying to read his autobiography now. I need to learn more about how someone who came from nothing, like him, could end up being one of the world’s greatest writers.

This is not to even mention the toxins in the water of the Illinois at Joliet. A different kind of menace. Silent and deadly. Not exciting, just tragic.

Don’t get me started on the railroad goons. Remind me again, what century is this?

I was driving through Louisiana a few years ago
and at least they had “Don’t Swim” with alligators signs there.

Rather late to reply, but I have a picture from somewhere (maybe South Carolina) taken at a park, I randomly took a break in. (Trying to retrieve it)
Similar alligator sign, but warned about watching your pets.
I was astounded at the lack of warning about watching your children.

I still listen to the new album in its entirety nearly daily.
I first heard of and heard her on National Public Radio here.
Also where I first heard perhaps my favorite band, Cafe Tacuba.
Maybe Eliza will be coming again to the US. Likely in smaller venues, which is good (for me).
Like a few artists I like, their audience may not be huge, but when they perform every single one of their fans will be there.
