I have been involved with a small Christian-offshoot cult when I was a teenager. It took me a few years to understand that what I believed and went through, wasn’t at all ‘biblical’ and that there was nothing wrong with me because God wasn’t speaking to me as he was ‘the anointed ones’ in my group. Cults have some of the same basic techniques for control and it takes an indoctrinated person some time to get out from under that intellectually and emotionally. You really do *believe* the ‘scripture’ and the “failure” is you. Baby steps back to reality are a great thing – I’m grateful that indie auditors and ex-scilons are out there to help the newly blown. I surely wish I’d had something like that when I was freed from my own religious group – instead, none of them spoke to, nor acknowledged me after I left.

Sometimes, the mind won’t allow a person to see that they’ve been repeatedly conned because it can only handle so much emotional pain. In that case, the person shuts down. For a person in that situation, and Indie auditor may be the only way that they can even face up to any realization that they’ve been conned.

Hopefully, it allows them to take the baby steps.

In reply to Baby. Aww. Thank you. I catch a lot of heat for being mean on here. I assure you that the offer is real. Wouldn't be glamorous, but anyone who made it out would be a lot more comfortable while they re-connected and from travelling for work for 4 years, I've got people in most areas of the US. As much as I want to take a belt to Mcsabitch (tm), I really want these folks to be okay and safe.

In reply to J. Swift. Just a guess but I'd say Katie saved Suri from the SO and saved her from being brutalized too. Wonder what TC actually knows about SO for children? If he knew the truth do you think he'd really want his child in there? Yeah, yeah I know the TC/Katie/Suri thing has been done to death, but I really can't help wonder if TC is truly as stupid as he looks? Even Jenna who was related, wasn't spared any of the harshness.
