The local government here will only probably only act when they the law requires them to – for example when bits start falling off the façade (a significant risk, now, as can be seen from the Google Maps pictures – which is out of date).

Historical changes have stranded this building in an… undesirable area – which also a terrible location commercially, with no parking and no passing trade. It will never become a hotel again, and is useless for anything else. The Cofs has not even applied for the necessary permissions, and the 2011 census records only 30 Scientologists in Plymouth.

Everyone will be happy when the building has to be demolished, as the site can then be sold for housing development.

The CofS has made money from ‘excess’ donations, and the building was bought with other people’s money, so it doesn’t matter if they make a paper loss on the transaction.
