I knew several of those people, and I know they were both sincere and familiar with the cults usual M.O.

He’s a very charismatic and persuasive person, who does a great job of lying through his teeth while seeming completely sincere.

AE lost a ton of cash, overseas included. Sony Pictures is cutting back its summer “blockbuster” efforts for the next several years because it failed so badly.

To actually make money after promotion and distribution are paid for, a movie needs to make about double (usually, sometimes bit more or less) its published production budget.

On evil and satan, etc…. yeah… I’m with you. I don’t really believe in the devil, and I use the word evil sparingly. I, perhaps naively, believe that people are basically good. But then there are people who come along and prove me wrong — Hubbard, serial killers, conmen like Madoff, not to mention Hitler types, etc., who don’t seem to have a conscience. “Stupid is as stupid does.” 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving, G.D. It is genius. I agree. Madman scientist/psych EVIL genius, combined with a little or a lot of Aleister Crowley/Satanic EVIL genius. And two EVILS, genius or not, make a double-whammy EVIL. It’s EVIL… most definitely. His son, Nibs always said his father DIDN’T worship Satan; he wanted TO BE Satan. He wanted to be “one with Satan”. And, after Crowley died, it was *his turn*. He felt he was the rightful heir to “the throne”. Personally, I don’t believe in anything as Satan, or the Devil, etc. but I DO believe there’s evil in the world, of course. But it is created by ignorance, by greed, and ultimately, a lack of TRUE WISDOM; or perhaps, just a little ordinary, garden variety, run-of-the-mill *common sense.*

I’m glad you were able to break through it. I also appreciate your explanation of how people get sucked into it. I think that is important information. As much as we all want to judge or think people are foolish for buying a bridge in Brooklyn – or Teegack (sp?), as the case may be – we all have our needs and wants that make us susceptible to something. Hub’s organization was carefully structured to take advantage of that. It’s genius, really. Unfortunately, it was/is evil genius.
