I had a great childhood, my parents had a dark side sense of humour. My mother put me in a catholic school to save my soul and my father sent me girls guide ( Protestant ), his father was in the orange lodge. Anyway all is well, thank you Jvm3

I did not expect that response! Sorry to hear how difficult your childhood was, but you seem to have come out of it with a unique perspective on religion, politics and life. I was asking because as a Catholic of Irish descent, I have always known of and had an interest in the Troubles, but never experienced them first-hand. In my family at least, we weren’t brought up to hate Protestants or any other religion, but we are also very far away from the political strife that you experience there. Praying you remain safe and well.

Douglas, I will take your comment and try to be a little more understanding and tolerant. It’s not like me to run roughshod over another’s sensibilities, especially artists of any kind. Thanks for the wakeup.

My parents were mixed religion, one Catholic the other Protestant. We moved to Northern Ireland in 1976, they kept me as a secret for the first 4 years in England because they knew the trouble it would bring. Anyway surprise, I arrive here, my irish family were shocked, it was really tough. People kept asking me stupid questions, like what foot do I kick with. I never got accepted by either community until I was older an made my own friends. It saddens me now because still every year, protesters block the roads (because of a flag). It’s scary leaving your home when you have to go to work or visit your family when this happens, usually in July. Anyway happy my parents were mixed religion, tough as it was, prefer it to being one of one sided haters. It’s heart warming to see people here helping each other.

A designated successor is the last thing Miscavige would want hanging around. That would be the person who would be most likely to knock him off in the future. The other thing about having someone “groomed” to be a designated successor is the implication that there is a board of directors somewhere who’s thinking about the future, and who has power over even Miscavige. That’s clearly not the case in the Scientology organization, where the board may have members but they are certainly not exercising authority over anyone; they’re utterly silent.
