“First hand” is not a notation in a 2009 church newsletter, and yet that’s all you offer as evidence, over and over again. I’m open to some real evidence, but you never offer any.

I know Neil Gaiman is a clam. I know it first hand and personally. I am trying to show you where to look. Apparently, you aren’t as interested in the truth as I hoped you’d be, and I don’t plan on being crucified by the Gaiman family as I know only too well what they are capable of doing. So we are at an impasse. I honestly wish you would try to understand the terrible position Scientology puts many of us in as we try to get the truth out.

Now you’re just not paying attention. As I wrote earlier, Neil Gaiman was a hardcore Scientologist as a child and at least into his teens, and I hear he got past OT III. But then, at some point in the 1980s, he walked away from it. He’s able to stay in contact with his family for two reasons: He has never once uttered a negative word about Scientology, and also he is a wealthy and famous celebrity. Lisa Marie Presley operates under the same rules, even though she’s left too. I know you want so badly for Neil to be a secret clam, but there isn’t really any good evidence for it. He never criticizes it, and that keeps him connected to his family.

I really like the work you do, but your theory that Neil Gaiman somehow existed in a family of Scientology cult leaders for 30 years, without actually being a Scientologist is one of the most amazing theories I have ever heard.

According to your theory, Mary Gaiman made a 2009 donation under Neil Gaiman’s name. If that is the case, then Neil Gaiman is somehow seen by his own family to be an underwriter of Scientology since they list him in their own church documents.

In your theory, Neil Gaiman, as a Potential Trouble Source, to say the least, is allowed to continue to spend time with family members and appear at family functions such as the documented photos at Wealdon House.

In your theory, Neil Gaiman married a raving Scientologist 30 years ago, sent his children to East Grinstead Scientology school, managed an Org and was in good standing with his OT8 parents, but at the same time left Scientology without being handled and did not pay the cult?

In your theory, despite Neil Gaiman having one of the leaders of Minnesota Ideal Org, Mary Gaiman living in his backyard and being the mother of his children; despite being in business with her in the Blank Corp and being the obvious source of Mary Gaiman’s half a million dollar donation to the Minnesota Ideal Org; despite Mary Gaiman working for Scientology since she moved into the Gaiman household 30 years ago to study with David Gaiman (much like the suicide Johannes Scheepers); despite all of this, somehow Neil Gaiman lived with her and raised children with her while not being a Scientologist?

Your theory contradicts virtually everything known about how the cult operates through ex-member testimony.

As a journalist, I would be a bit more skeptical.

Actually, records show that Neil and Mary Gaiman finalized their divorce in 2008. The next year, a donation was made under the name “Neil and Mary Gaiman” in a church newsletter, not a legal or even very reliable document. Mary continues to be very active in the church, and Neil hasn’t been since the 1980s. Until we see some evidence that Neil actually had something to do with the money that Mary donated, we’re going to continue to say that Neil, while surrounded by fanatical Scientologists in his family, has been out of the church for years.

2009 donation by Neil Gaiman is a black and white fact listed in Scientology’s own records. FACT, not speculation. This is hard evidence Neil Gaiman still pays the cult and yet no journalist will asks Gaiman
about this donation.

Despite pointing out yourself in article after article that Scientologists disconnect from apostates, in the case of Neil Gaiman this well documented cult behavior has suddenly changed? Isn’t it more likely Gaiman is lying about his status? As his father David Gaiman schooled him to do since the age of six?
