Thank you mah Lady! I do consider those points and really wasn’t trying to compare the Catholic church’s policy with that of the Co$. I was trying to point out that seminary students can be obligated to pay for the schooling they received if they do not take the vow. I do not think for a moment that Co$ and RCC have the same policies toward its clergy, nor do I believe that RCC is as sinister as the Co$ (outside of the molestation and rape abuse and homophobia; the RCC treats its parishioners and clergy a hell of a lot better then Co$) Also, one of the big differences with Co$ and the RCC is that at Sunday Mass, priests and nuns do not block the exits while the collection plate goes around and they do not threaten your eternity if you do not tithe.

I was pointing out what I did because Co$ has a bad habit of saying, “Well other religions do it, so it’s okay for us!” I really really hate that and it irritates me to no end.

Scientology is very 1984, almost to the letter. But I wonder if Scientology isn’t 1984 plus Black Magic. I know I certainly feel like I was hypnotized. The sessions were trance like and the environment planted ideas about LRH’s greatness and his infallibility. It feels like an evil enchantment.

My Dear Mr. Legosi, There is little similarity between what the Catholic Church and what Scientology does a) A seminarian is actually getting an education which has real, intrinsic value b) while in college, a seminarian is not also working 80 hours a week for the CC c) a seminarian is not constantly being lied to about everything or cut off from the world d) If the seminarian changes his mind, he is not threatened with losing his eternity or harassed and followed by private detectives.
Lady Squash hopes you will consider the differences as well as the similarities.

And yet, LRH said this policy was to protect the Church from Scientologists who signed contracts to get free service and then left. When I read that, I thought the policy sounded reasonable. I had bitten into the magic mushroom and Up was Down.
