Yes, you are very lucky. My husband and I blew the SO in dark of night, sneaking out like you (sans the security cameras everywhere) in 1979 when we were 27/33 respectively. We had our 15 month old son, an old Toyota Carina stuffed with what we could pack in it, and $500 between us. Thank goodness we had some family that weren’t in Scientology, because we had to start all over making friends and learning skills…not to mention learning to speak English as our first language again, LOL!

yeah – i feel that when a person tries to retain their identity their force of will goes to war with the abuse pushed onto them – If their will is less than the abuse they’re receiving then they will ‘become’ their abuser. You must have had a much stronger will 😉

I received quite a bit of abuse and I did not turn out as awful as her. There were only two other people in the Sea Org that ever treated me as bad as that awful woman did. She was terrible.

I just wanted to personally congratulate you on really moving up the bridge to freedom Jason! And thank you for participating in Angry Gay Pope’s series! I have told Tory that it is those who have been “in” the church that do the most damage and it is those people who speak out that I always listen to first. I have never been in, but did work for a public or indie. What Marc said to you is true. Get all of it out some how. I find writing it all down, not stopping for spelling or punctuation, really really helps. It also helps to write them down and burn or put in a glass bottle and then break it too. That is if you don’t want to save what you have written, but the release of it all on paper is truly therapeutic. Keep talking brother. There is a whole community of people just like yourself and a whole lot more that keep you in their prayers or thoughts. Never feel like you are alone, because you are not and shall never be again! 🙂
