I think Kerry Kennedy is just following the proud tradition of her family in failing to do any actual homework before jumping in as the face of a cause. Her brother, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., was one of the most vocal (and uninformed) anti-vaccine activists out there during the Andrew Wakefield years. Now that Wakefield has been exposed as a fraud and a conman and Kennedy’s assertions have been debunked and exposed for the scientifically illiterate hyperbole they were–often by embarrassing retractions of stuff he actually published–he has been strangely silent. He may have had legitimate concerns about these issues, but he failed to fully understand either the science or the players involved in the Wakefield MMR fraud before he dove in headfirst and ultimately made a fool of himself. They appear to look before they leap or to be particularly gullible or something–in other words, perfect celebrity fooltools for Scientology.

MWM, thanks for the link to the ultimate UV-proof swimsuit. As you know, supermodels will gouge each other’s eyes out for a chance to have the cover of an exciting new swimsuit catalog. I checked with several of the junior supermodels to see if they remembered this one; a couple of them went for the audition. But when they saw what they were going to be wearing, they figured it wasn’t worth their time. Why go through years of waxing, exfoliating, exercising, dieting and all the rest if the readers aren’t actually going to see you? Apparently, the producers went and got a couple of eyelash models (a highly specialized form of face model) to do the job for cheaper. According to Supermodel #1, who has much experience in such things, it’s the first time she ever heard of a swimsuit shoot that went begging for talent in Los Angeles.

PS: Most supermodels never have tan lines from bikini ties. That’s because they are always able to sun themselves au naturel at the waterfront estates of capitalists like me all summer long.

Per Wickstrom is the man originally behind the marketing strategies set into motion in using fake referral websites. I was dismayed to see Kerry Kennedy Cuomo promoting Scientology’s art front group. I hope we get some answers as to why she got herself hooked up with them. No doubt however, as we have seen from Lawrence Wright’s book, Ann Archer’s enthusiasm and ability to spout the Koolaid, she pursued the woman with vigor.

It makes me sick to see how Scientology infiltrates areas of the world, especially when they are targeting the children. I know it’s a lot to ask of exes but any help is appreciated in trying to break these connections and prevent new ones from popping up. Having once been an official “opinion leader’ for the church, flyer really cracked me up. They probably label anyone who ever brought someone into scientology an “Opinion Leader”, lol!

I get your point about FOADisqus. I was just imagining some Lower Conditions guy wondering if he could get away with claiming he sabotaged us. It was meant as a joke but I guess it worked better in my head. Sorry!

I remember Snow White and Freakout. Until I learned about them I thought $cientarCONon was slightly dangerous and padded their reputation out pretending to play hard ball. These operations convinced me the cult was really dangerous the way mobsters are dangerous. The only thing that’s changed since then is now I think the comparisons with mobsters missed how dangerous they really were. At their worst I think the cult was a terrorist organization that bordered on treasonous.

I said “was” because for now at least, they’re running search and destroy on their enemies and critics with much less vicious efficiency than they showed back then. I don’t mean they’re not dangerous at all anymore, just saying they’ve lost a lot of the ferocity that used to terrify book publishers, newspapers, broadcasters and others. We have momentum now and we have to keep it growing and not lose it, but $cientarCONon isn’t what it was.
