Hmm, no wonder they dropped the price in half- no one else would touch it with the Micro-wave Doppler radar tower dumping radiation all day and night. Hagman accounts his cancer and possibly his mother's as a result of exposure to it. His wife has lost her memory as well. wonder how they'll explain this to the celeb's who fry there?

He(Hagman) claims he doesn't know how much it's worth but the Ventura County Assessor's Office conservatively pegs the value of the 23000-square-foot compound and its spectacular 32-acre setting at just under $3 million.

The Hagmans moved there in 1991. Two years later — surreptitiously over the Thanksgiving holiday some claim — the National Weather Service erected the 100-foot tower designed to closely monitor weather from Lompoc to Long Beach and 100 miles out to sea. Contending the white monolith is ugly unneeded and possibly a major health hazard the Hagmans and others have demanded that it be relocated. Weather Service officials steadfastly refuse saying the tower's location is crucial to its vital function closely tracking the Pacific's powerful storms.

A 10-bedroom chateau with breathtaking views, the Ojai place was our dream home, and we named it Heaven—that's actually the address I use on my stationery. But a scary situation developed there that I think is partially to blame for the tumor that doctors would eventually find in my liver. In 1993 the National Weather Service put up a tower for Doppler radar, which warns of severe weather conditions, 800 yards from my house. It's 68 feet tall, topped by a forest-green metal ball, 30 feet in diameter, that pulses 24 hours a day, emitting low-level microwave radiation. The government informed us that the tower posed no health risks, but I hired an independent radar specialist and found out that my house, which is on the neighboring mountain, receives what I consider unacceptable levels of radiation. A woman who lived right next door to the tower has developed three tumors—and a child from a family who lives on the hill across from me was born with a hyperthyroid condition. And then I came down with my thing.

Last June 22 I went in for a routine blood test, and the results indicated something irregular. So I had a CAT scan and an MRI. The tests showed a small tumor measuring 2.7 by 2.8 centimeters. I met with Dr. Leonard Makowka, director of transplantation services for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, who had operated on my mother, Mary Martin, when she had cancer in 1988. Dr. Makowka didn't know if the tumor was malignant. But he saw it was pressed up against a vein, and it didn't look good. He ordered a biopsy and several other tests.

Maj and I were in Santa Fe when the doctor called and told us the tumor was cancerous. Till then we thought the liver would somehow stay healthy and even regenerate. The news hit Maj hard. We will have been married 41 years this December. She suddenly realized our time together might be very limited. I felt detached. If something is growing inside of your body, why worry? You've simply got to do something. I met with specialists, who explained my options. One was a liver transplant. The other was "checking out."

He spells it out in his book;

Hagman describes how his neighbor had a defective childbirth, pigeons had deformed babies, and how the emissions caused his cancer as well.

The Hagman estate is not less than three hours from LAX without traffic. There are two very small private airports within an hour. The compound is extremely remote at the top of a mountain on over forty acres and the nearest store of any kind is thirty minutes away down a narrow two lane mountain road. It is not an easy commute. I used to travel for work quite a bit and even with a driver, it is an extra half day into any trip. There is a heliport on the property but the property sold without guaranteeing its use.

You should be concerned, Hope (and a lot of us here have fictitious email accounts!) This is the place to learn exactly what you should be concerned about! One thing for sure, the clams are super private. They won't want to socialize with wogs and they won't play loud music, etc. If it's a drug rehab or a spa retreat, etc, I think the suppositions on this blog are right - it'll be for a small amount of extremely wealthy and possibly famous "whales." It's not like you'd have junkies cruising the streets.

On the downside, you'd have a secretive and sometimes dangerous (when threatened) cult in your midst. Not fun.

I just had another thought - COB isn't thinking of moving any of his VIP RPFers there, is he?

I used to live next to Larry Hagman's home and knew he and his wife Maya quite well. We still own undeveloped property there and know many of the current neighbors. The Hagman estate is situated on 40 acres (the smallest acreage allowed). It is not in the city limits of Ojai. It is located at the top of a very isolated mountain overlooking the ocean. The property had been on the market for a couple of years after his wife developed Alzheimer's and required round the clock care and they moved her a facility in Los Angeles. Larry refused many offers on the estate during this time because he wasn't satisfied with the buyers. He and Maya loved this home and called it, Heaven. They cared for it almost like a child. It is not a coincidence that the home was only sold after Larry's death and that these buyers were kept uncharacteriscticallconfidential (despite many attempts to force disclosure by concerned neighbors). We are all quite concerned and while used to prominent neighbors, there is nothing like this anywhere on the mountain. It is all single family homes and guest homes. Zoning laws are governed by the county and any normal group would never receive approval for any kind of business much less a drug rehabilitation facility. However, the more I read and learn about the new buyers the more I realize this group is anything but "normal". (To the extent that I created a fictitious email account to simply post this comment). Sadly, Larry and Maya would never have approved and only after his death could this sort of thing happen. I'm really concerned. This mountain has been like heaven; the people are all lovely and there is no drama other than an occasional horse getting loose or the fog below obstructing the views of the Channel Islands for a day or two. It is a quiet and stunning beautiful place. We are hoping that it can remain that way.

Hope you are soaking up all the sun and beauty where ever you are getting room service :P Uncle Cosmo has decided to dump his glorious holy sweat upon us heathens in the PacNW! Thank you for the link. Wow, he kinda blew me away in that piece. I can see what attracted Tom to hang out with him. Also, what came to mind is he is involved in a lot of programs. He mentioned some and I can't help but wonder if that wasn't lost on Tom or his handler. Whether this buddyship produced any type of result? Probably not. When the Narconon approach is made as vague as possible to the point of criminal, it may seem harmless and hey who doesn't like a good sauna? But, when you have lived thru honest to god physical addiction (DTs, sickness from Hades, ect) the very idea of total cold-turkey approach to sobriety is not only cruel, but dangerous. I can't speak for 12 Step systems. I find them to be sorta cultie myself and haven't seen many people "toxin" free for long, just to an acceptable and "not going to kill you" levels. I loved this quote tho, made me give this dude some respect.

"Drugs and alcohol are not my problem, reality is my problem, drugs and alcohol are my solution. If
this seems odd to you it is because you are not an alcoholic or a drug
addict. You are likely one of the 90% of people who can drink and use
drugs safely."

I only use the jet for specific trips. There is little point in flying the jet for an out-and-back trip to LA, since there are flights at least hourly almost all day long-- it's the most heavily trafficked long haul airline route in the world. First class airfare for four costs less than what it takes to run the jet there and back. Same with London and Paris. And for places like Sydney or Singapore, flying commercial is both faster and cheaper because a 747-400 doesn't have to refuel; the G does, twice, adding 4-5 hours to the trip.

The jet is for trips like NYC->Columbus Ohio->Madison Wisconsin->El Paso->Jackson MS->Pensacola->NYC. You would be hard pressed to do that in a week flying commercial. Trying to fly into Madison from anywhere is basically a ridiculous proposition and it takes 2-3 hours to drive up from O'Hare. I can do three hour meetings in each of those cities and do that trip in two days. Oh, and the jet is really great for quick vacation trips as well...

But the real reason I love the jet is the geek appeal -- I love to ride in the jumpseat on the landing (especially into NYC, SFO, SJC, SEA, PSP) and to "help out" by giving the pilots a break en route (basically just manning the radio for the handoffs between air traffic control sectors as you make your way along). So it's more to fulfill my inner pilot wanna-be (I'm certified in multi-engine propeller but not current, and I'm not certified in jets, but I sometimes fly the takeoff in the right seat when we're flying out of a sleepy little airport) than it is to commune with my inner Leona Helmsley, who was all about looking down on "the little people."

I know it's a little late, but it's been a busy weekend. I am not a particular fan of Russell Brand's work, but I read this article he wrote about addiction and I was quite impressed. It seems that his view of addiction and recovery is a very conventional 12-step program type of view from what I understand of these things. That seems to me like it would be incompatible with the Narconon approach. So I'm going to guess that if he really has been clean and sober for a decade, and he has this particular view of the problem, then he's not Narconon bait. The article from the Guardian (UK paper): http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2013/mar/09/russell-brand-life-without-drugs
