I guess I'm at the point in my life where I don't even spend the time to skip 200 pages to start a story. If I'm going to reread something, I'm even pickier than I was 20 years ago.

Now, I'll spend time reading something new.

For some reason, you connected with the story or characters in BE and had the fortitude to stick with the book through 200 pages, or you did a lot of skimming to get to that point.

Moviegoers won't sit through half an hour or so to have something come alive, and, if DM was messing with the movie, he was doing it from the viewpoint of a supplicant.

The best movie I ever saw about Jesus was done by a gay Italian communist. None of the special effects that you usually see, but a portrayal of a simple man with a simple, powerful, message. The rest of the movies about him are made for the faithful, in essence the Christian equivalent of clams.

The book did actually get much better later on. Not Asimov, Heinlein, Bear, or Card level, but up to a decent level. I just skip to page 200 or so when I re-read it, lol.

However, the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services shall offer voluntary certification for those resident recovery and recovery support programs that are not collocated with certified treatment programs that desire Department certification.

This Bill LOOSENS the requirements on rehabs! Who isn't exempt from this Bill? That would be a shorter list. WTF.

I'm just offering my opinion, like everyone else on here. My opinion is that rape jokes are stupid, and well beneath the comedic talents of JP. So, I said so. Sorry if you don't like it!

This clip is awesome, RMycroft. It will take both these guys a long time to get over that part of their lives, and they are still disconnected from friends and loved ones. But here they are fishing and reminiscing in a healthy way. Really, I see them as ptsd survivors, who also underwent the indignity of having their personalities warped to the extent of engaging in lies and intimidations and bullying themselves. And they are working through their shame and reassembling themselves. If this can happen to bright talented guys like this, then you know how powerful the forces are that twist you in the cult. I will have to watch any more of this interview that is up there. They still have a "I can't believe we put up with all that, and did those things" aura about them. They must be like abused brothers reuniting. I know they were sycophants themselves, but it heartens me to see them like this, doing the right thing proudly at last. Good for em both. It will make a great movie one day, better than The Master.

Being gay is not a flaw. Being a sexual predator is not "a bit aggressive". But every single time any group treats normal and healthy sexuality as flawed, they create a haven for sexual predators. Because if masturbating is evil; if consensual sex with another adult is evil; well, then, rapists can say "I raped 50 children but you touched yourself, so we're exactly the same! Besides, they were asking for it." It happens every single time.
